I hope that the re-install solved the problem.

If not, we can use some more information.

Is the after 24 hours blue screen a recurring issue?

Did you put the two sticks that failed back in?

U are aware that they are the same make and model.

Are they from the same lot?
If the manufacture changed the chip type, different chip lot or version, can affect how/if they will work together.

K guys whats going on. with both sticks the system reboots about 30 seconds into the test?

How may RAM slots do you have ?? If both a same model try with different slots and see if happens !!

Check you motherboard manual, it will tell you what slots need to be used with 1 stick, which slots need to be used with 2 sticks, etc.

Some MOBOs must have one stick in only one slot, if in the wrong slot you will have problems.
2 sticks in two specific slots, wrong slots and you'll have problems.

4 slots can you put ram slots in the last two even when the first ones are not full?

See above, must be in the exact slots mentioned in your motherboard manual.

Moved around still restrating? What next?

Please be more specific, what memory stick did you put in which slot.

You may have a bad slot, take good notes when testing your RAM.

You are hunting for both bad RAM and bad slots.
If a RAM stick fails, check it in another slot. Then check an already passed RAM stick in that slot that failed.

The timings displayed at the top of memtest look very strange although i have them set in the bios to 9-9-9-24 like the sticks say. And i have tried auto same problem.

Tell us exactly what the 'very strange' timing info was, and was it the same on any other stick or are they all different?

I reinstalled windows and currently all 4 sticks are in and its working fine........ill hold my breath but in the morning it'll most likely blue screen. 24 hours later what does that mean?

You mentioned you had 8GB RAM and two failed, tell us exactly how many sticks you have and what the capacity of each stick is.
List them one by one.

Did you buy all the RAM at the same time?
From the same place?
Did this RAM run in a different computer?

Your MOBO will have a standard low default setting for Auto, this is to keep from frying the RAM on initial startup, you will need to set the BIOS to the RAM specifications.
Most RAM will run at a lower settings, will depend on the RAM.

If two sticks pass the mem86 test separately, but not together, it could be a bad slot or incompatible RAM.
Which slots where they tested in?

Be methodical in your testing, keep good notes.

Did you install the drivers from the DVD or D/L new ones?

Did you flash your BIOS?
What BIOS version is installed now?
Is there a newer version available?
Check your MOBO site for any known problems with that MOBO or version of BIOS.

Sorry for the overload, but you have asked a lot of questions and tried many things.
It's difficult for us to know exactly the steps you have taken, a small clue may tip one of us off to the potential culprit.

At this point the possibilities are many, need to start narrowing them down, one at a time.

Yes i bought all four sticks at the same time and yes one did fail a memory test and the system behaves the same with and without it. I have tried every frequency setting for the ram. setting it to 800mhz does not allow the system to start. I will look into this farther tomorrow I have a long day of work ahead of me.

That's strange, the ddr1 could mean it's running in single channel mode, not good.

The random re-starts are indicating a serious error.

Check updates for your drivers, chipset would be the first one to look at.

Check the BIOS version and if there is a newer one, when you have some time.
If there is a new BIOS check if the change log mentions anything about RAM issues.

Random problems with RAM can be attributed several possible causes, these are a few known issues.

  • CPU heat sink or block over tightened, or could be a bent CPU pin.
  • VTT not set high enough to drive all channels.
  • MSConfig settings. Start menu then type msconfig then go to boot tab, Advanced options, then uncheck Number of processors & Maximum memory, then Restart your pc and check your listed RAM.

For the heat sink and water block, try loosening the bolts a quarter turn at a time, check RAM listing.
D/L and run Real Temp or other temperature monitoring program.
If temps are high, check CPU pins and thermal paste.

When testing RAM sticks always test slots. If you get a bad test change the stick and test again to check for a bad slot, these can be random so keep that in mind.

Okay after one day I still got a blue screen for memory management...... I've heard these errors can be caused by an overtaxed power supply judging by my system specs how big of one would you guys recommend?

You should be able to get a 500w PSU, a little bigger won't hurt anything 650-750w should be more than enough.

Don't skimp on the PSU, stick to the major brands, Corsair, Antec, Seasonic.
Most of these sights will have a PSU recommendation program, run through it and see what they recommend.
Corsair PSU calculator.

I was just searching for some info on another thread with a MSI board similar to yours. Found some info that might help.

Is it AMD tested memory?
If it's the Intel RAM there are lots of issues mentioned, You need to make sure it's the AMD spec RAM.
Is the memory you have listed on the MSI approved memory list?

You might consider selling them to someone and getting the AMD spec RAM.

There are a lot of the same issues discussed on many forums, you can try adjusting the settings in BIOS and you may get lucky, but the general consensus is they just won't work.

Sorry about the bad news.

Let us know your progress.

Couldn't find a RAM list on your MOBO website, I would call or email them for a list of certified RAM.

They're not much help with RAM recommendations, kinda strange.

OCZ site gave OCZ DDR3 PC3-10666 PLATINUM AMD EDITION

Corsair ultra-high performance DDR3 Memory for AMD Phenom II Processors

From the MSI MOBO website.
What memory to buy?

To get the most out of your memory, use two sticks in dual channel mode. If you use 4 sticks, then your memory will work, but only at a lower speed.

If you are looking for performance memory, look for Dual-Channel kits tested for AMD systems, as many are Intel optimised, and the Intel timings are not always suitable for AMD systems. Don't waste your money buying Tri-channel kits, they are optimised for Intel i7 systems, and you'll get better performance using just one or two sticks anyway. And if you're lucky to get three sticks working together, they'll only run in single channel mode, which will hinder performance anyway.

Don't mix and match sticks either. Always use identical matched sticks for best performance in dual channel mode.

For optimal results and trouble free maximal performance it's recommended to use 1 memory stick per channel, as a general rule this always works.

This site said they have a lot of problems with your MOBO and G.SKILL Ripjaws RAM, so stay away from it.

Well guys I think the harddrive may have been the problem the whole time. Sometime last week it got to the point where the computer would not even boot and I could not reinstall windows it would not format for me. I've sent it back and in the mean time I am installing seven on a 250gb seagate with no problems. Could the harddrive really been the cause of memory managment?

It could be a coincidence that your RAM was bad. Memtest reported errors, so there's little doubt there was a compatibility issue there.

In any case, thanks for reporting.

Great to hear it's running without errors.
