Solved Various different BSOD errors after 5-10 minutes running Win7

Hi, I'm Mike. Thanks for clicking on my thread.

Recently I purchased a new SSD. I put it in my old machine and reinstalled Windows, as I have done so many times before. By about the fifth day of reinstalling programs I started getting BSODs after about 5-10 minutes of work.

I ran Memtest86 overnight and none of my modules seem bad. I tried a System Restore, which worked for a day, then it resumed. I tried uninstalling Office and the Intel Rapid Storage Technology programs, thinking that since they were the most recent installs, they were the culprits. Still got random blue screens, each with a different error message. I got four crashes writing this very post.

This'll be the first time I've ever had to register to get a problem with my computer solved, so I would appreciate any assistance that could be rendered. I'm hoping that it's just a software issue, because I'm not sure I'm up for the snowball of having to buy more new innards for my computer as well.

Hello MikeFromNowhere.

It appears that the BSOD is caused by fonts.

Browse to C:\Windows\Fonts, and delete the fonts those you have lately installed before the BSODs started to occur.

If you cannot access to the fonts folder in normal mode, try in safe mode.

Then rebuild the font cache. Go to C:\Windows\System32\ and delete the "Fntcache.dat" file there. Then restart the computer. On restart, a fresh font cache will be built.

*** Take care of fonts those are installed by Acrobat, specially.

Also, it is Adobe Type Manager that is failing here.

Plan to uninstall it.

The Font folder was literally the last place I would have checked. I guess something got corrupted in the last ten years of collecting eight hundred of the silly things.

Since I installed the aforementioned 800 fonts in a single pass, I took out all that the system would let me and deleted the cache, along with uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Reader. Seems to be all working well now. Thank you.

Now, I just hope that this zip of fonts I found elsewhere on the forums is legit. Thanks again!
