vbc.exe - any valid reason for net connection?

Recently, Norton Internet Security has been popping up warnings about vbc.exe trying to connect to the Internet. I have the NIS firewall set to manual so I can see all attempted network connections and can allow/prevent them as needed. For the most part, I know what I should allow and what I shouldn't. However, I don't know if vbc.exe has any valid reason for connecting to the Internet. Does anyone have any insight?

NIS is up to date and performs regular scans of my system. It has not found any malicious items. I am also running MalwareBytes (up to date as well) and it has not found any malware. This leads me to believe the Internet connection attempts by vbc.exe may be benign, but I'd rather not take any chances.

P.S.: Apologies if this is posted in the wrong area. I looked for a section specifically related to viruses/malware, but found nothing. So, I decided the general discussion area was best.

Vbc.exe is legitimate and if it is communicating with anything it's communicating with the microsoft debugging host.
I wouldn't be concerned about it unless it's just using a massive amount of bandwidth in which case it might indicate a more serious problem.
