Solved Video card overheats after cpu oc

When you say "OC programs" do you mean you are using an app in windows? if so, stop! Only OC from the relative safety of the BIOS.

When I hit the perverbialtech wall, I know no defeat. I am a bit anal when it comes to stability with my stsem, as with my customers systems also.

Basically what I would do in your situation is:
Return everything completely to standard.
Grab a spare hard drive and do a clean install of your OS, Prime95, CPU-Z, GPU-Z and any video stability test app you desire.
Leave everything at standard, run Prime while monitoring your frequencies and volts.
Run the video stability app.
Then once you have confirmed that the system is stable/unstable in completely standard form, you proceed with your OC/upgrade.

Just my way of doing things. Each to their own. If you weren't so far away, I'd come over and have a few beers with ya and give ya hand to test it out, I love a good challenge, (probably why I am married to a redhead and have 5 kids:p)
May the Force be with you!

well to be honest the oc program is in the bios before the hardboot is done i just have a way of it being like easy tune only difference is i dont have to go fooling around too much with the nb voltages

i read my boards owner manual up and through i am doing the right thing just ...... the cpu is failing somehow i even suspect my board as well so.... im willing to up to a better mb and cpu

the sad thing is though this beast is runnig excellent at what it is at now i shouldnt be compelled to oc it further then i have but for some reason i can't let it go lol

thorn you need to get a ticket to california and we'll have those beers

Solarstarshines,

After reading through this thread, I feel like we really haven't TESTED it at STOCK settings.

Maybe you have and I missed it, but it just doesn't feel like it.

I would advise following Thorn's suggestions:
1) Completely reset your BOIS. Any programs you use to OC your card or cpu, revert to stock.
2) Run Prime 95 for about 10 hours with NO errors.
3) Run Furmark BenchMark, and use Tech powerups GPU-Z to check for artifacts (a good half hour there)

If you pass all this, then you could start ocing each component again.

not fast enough
thanks for the help i did reset everything back to normal values test everything exactly with 3dmark pcmark vantage as well everything passed nicely even when i went back to the oc settings i have now it is fine

I have been reading alot on my current cpu it seems im not the only one who has hit this oc wall but the person doesnt have vidcard troublle there useing a 8600gs
im figuring with the high card i got and the combination of all amd ati would run smoother but like you said something is off

it is a nice little cpu but what im trying to do to it wont fly the highest this particular cpu has gone on all the studies i seeen to 3.36 or a 3.8 3.8 pushing it

other cpu's like the black edtion has only gone up to 4.1ghz and it is a 3.4 so im chalking it up to amd has limitations on certain cpu's due to the board im useing

pretty much the chip is fast enough with out the oc so thats why you can only bump it up a little but i will run more test im sure it wont hurt and i will keep you posted

also should check out the specs on this chip phenom IIX4 925 it might give you a better idea of what im dealing with
