Video Details/Information, I cannot enter details

I work with a lot of videos and need to enter details into the properties. Windows 7 will only let me enter the info into MP4 files and not into AVI, MPG, FLV, MKV etc...files. Does anybody know how to do this other than re-encoding my 3500 non-MP4 files? With XP I could enter the information into any files except AVI, which I would just rename the extension to MPG and then I could, but this doesn't work with 7.

Any help on this would be appreciated

PS, please don't ask me to use a media player of other such software to provide me with the info unless they can actually edit the details in the properties.

And sorry, it looks you'll have to try at least with windows 7 a third party software like abcAVI Tag Editor
