I have W7 Home Premium and my PC started acting strange this morning.

It would not get past the Windows "welcome" screen after I entered my password.

I had to power off using the power button and after a few attempts it got past the "welcome" screen.

But after a restart the same problems occur.

This is my only PC so would like to get this fixed if I can.

I have not added any software recently, only windows updates.

The last piece of hardware installed were game joysticks which I plug in and out as required.

And a USB powered hub which again has nothing plugged in at the moment.

Any help appreciated.

Regards

Simon

If System Restore cannot take you back to a working configuration, try a few Startup REpairs from the same http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html list, then continue with the other steps for http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219533-troubleshooting-windows-7-failure-boot.html..

These steps try everything possible leading up to if necessary rescuiing your files to run Factory Recovery if applicable, or do the superior http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164

Thanks for all the replies.

I followed all the instructions and still W7 randomly hangs at the welcome screen.

It has only occurred once in last 6 days.

Its as though W7 is looking for or waiting for something to load ?
