If the navigation pane showed Documents, Pictures, Videos and Music would that not be the same as Libraries? What happened to Libraries in W10? They are redundant, that's why they no longer exist.

Libraries are merely a shortcut to the Main User Folders/Files.

You still don't "get" what libraries are. It was explained to you when you carped about them on 10 Forum.

Change vs Progress

I grew up in a world when a computer filled a large room, now I carry a device in my pocket that gives me access to more knowledge than was accessible on all the computers available when I was in school, and it makes phone calls too.
I remember when our school got sent an Apple II (for a few days).

I like progress, I remember the past but I don't want to go back there :D
I'm not opposed to progress, as long as it actually is progress. :)

"Change for change's sake" isn't progress (it's marketing).

Some people on EightForums & TenForums think that square wheels would be a fantastic advance (i.e. progress).
After all, round wheel have been around for far too long.

Here, here! I'll drink to that reality!

And to add to this is the fact that many of us "men" have the same shoes and boots we bought 20 years ago. LOL We don't need to follow a trend. We need something reliable that works.

Thank you very much! I only embrace change when it benefits me. For example, I don't have a smart phone. Sure, the features are nice but that big monthly bill would more than offset the advantages of those features, especially since I'm on a so called fixed income.

Oh, I have a cell phone but it's an antique Oystr that I carry around for emergencies. I turn it on only when I'm going to use it, which is rarely.

I am dual-booting Windows 7 and Windows 10 (latest build) on this desktop machine. I love Windows 7, have it set up to my tastes, and it will be on this computer for as long as it lasts. I like Windows 10, and no doubt that is what will be on my next rig, and I'll be fine with that. It runs just fine on this machine (including my 1999 copy of Quicken!), and I really have no substantive complaint about the UI. Except...

I really wish they'd bring back Aero Glass. I find it very pleasing. But oh well.

Am i the only one who disliked all the changes they did to desktop file explorer in 8.
Messed up the perfect windows 7 explorer pretty bad.
"oldnewexplorer" kind of does the trick to bring it back to 7 like state, but with all the updates storming in, you never know when it'll stop working. :)

True. So anyone reading this who wants to give feedback needs to open a Microsoft account. No biggie to do this: Windows Technical Preview - Windows Insider Program - Microsoft Windows

You can sign into apps individually and still use a local account,
The only app I'm signed into using a Microsoft account is the feedback app ;)
I have no idea where transparent/ Glass would apply to,
All windows do not have borders all you have left is a 2d page welcome to 2d windows 10TP this will not change ;)

Only a third party will mess with this which will make 10 as popular as 8 barely 15%

I, too, do not 'do' mobile, for a variety of reasons. And indeed people (especially my younger nieces and nephews) think I'm weird. But they think it's kind of cool at the same time...

Thank you very much! I only embrace change when it benefits me. For example, I don't have a smart phone. Sure, the features are nice but that big monthly bill would more than offset the advantages of those features, especially since I'm on a so called fixed income.
I don't have any sort of mobile either. :)

When I tell people that, they look at me like I'm some sort of weirdo.

I, too, do not 'do' mobile, for a variety of reasons. And indeed people (especially my younger nieces and nephews) think I'm weird. But they think it's kind of cool at the same time...

There's definitely nothing wrong with not having a smart phone, I know plenty of people who don't and they are just fine. I personally could not live without my smartphone as I travel for work, get email on the go, need different apps to do my work, etc. I guess even if I didn't need it for this, now that I've had one, I don't think I could go back simply because even though it costs more, at least IMO, it provides plenty of benefits to offset the cost.

Here in the uk the difference between the cost of running a smartphone against a "regular" phone is less of an issue, and all the current tariffs at my ISP include some data.

My latest contract I went from a tariff including 1GB data 600 minutes and unlimited texts to the same but with totally unlimited 3G Data for an additional £3.00 per month.

I've also the option of switching to a 3GB 4G package for the same price, ( though the unlimited is better for my needs ). I can also use the phone as an emergency 3G wireless hotspot if I need when out with a laptop or tablet, or my home fibre breaks :)

In the US MetroPCS has unlimited calls, texts and data for $40US monthly. There are irritants like dead areas of cities I visit and no cell signal in house I'm visiting in Palm Springs now. But I had that same problem with ATT on a family plan for 3x more.

When my Florida roommate handed me down his old iPhone I was wary and am wondering how much of a quality of life improvement it is that I can answer email and forums posts as I move about the cities nearly cut off from the environment I'm passing through. It's great for productivity though and unchaining oneself from a desk.

I do like the maps though. I just found a bike path along river bed on Google Maps that got me 10 miles on without city streets
