W7 Updates Fail, FixIt File & KB Fixes Don't Fix

I'ts been months trying to install updates. 20 or more do not install, takes 2 hours or more to Shut Down while supposedly Updating. Most fail. Tried updating one at a time, small with few kbs or larger with MBs, still failed. Does anyone have lots of experience with the Fixes? This has wasted many hours for me and my ThinkPad laptop about 3 years old might be vulnerable and not operating as well as it should with installed Updates.
