Want to continue download after connection drop

I was busy downloading some software using the standard Firefox downloader when my connection was dropped 3MB shy of finishing. I don't want to go through the whole process again but when I press the retry button thats exactly what it does. Is there no way to get it to continue where it left off?

You have to do the download by Opera Browser or with a good download manager if you want the download to resume from where it had dropped. Please note that other browsers do not have the capability to resume broken downloads.

Also please note that certain sites from where you download do not have the capability to resume broken downloads. Another thing to remember is that almost all file server hosts shall not resume broken downloads in the free mode.

And finally try downloading via torrents because they always resume from where they broke off. Many applications can now be legally downloaded via torrents.

Not that I have found.
For the future Firefox has a addon called Downthemall which is good for pausing/resuming downloads and lost connections.

If your downloading from Rapidshare, Oron, etc... as a regular/free download it's a little more complicated to be able to resume but I believe it can be done using Downthemall.

EDIT: As a test I just tried resuming from Oron but got a 416 error so maybe it's just impossible.

A lot of what you guys are on about is a mystery to me. Torrents? Oron? Rapidshare? I was downloading a viewer for my CAD for one of my clients. For some reason the link for the software doesn't work with Free Download Manager, which I usually use.

Never a day goes by when I am not disappointed by South African ISP's...
