Looking down from above your case, does it look like the fan bolt pattern is offset either way? Such as towards the left side panel or the right side panel? Or is it squarely in the middle of the top panel?

I will take a look at it later, I'm heading out the door now.

Here is a screen shot of my temps while gaming. this is why I want to move to a water cooler.


Kelly, I will look at the case tomorrow, I stopped at the pub on the way home from work and I never open my case after that The screenshot is while running at 4.0. If I go to 4.5 you can add 10C.

That is why I want to try water cooling. Will it lower them much?
If I run prime it's in the upper 80's to 90@ 4.5, IBT at 4.5 I get all the way up to the 90's. one core hit 100

Edit: I was playing MW3, not a really demanding game but I do have it on very high settings at HD resolution, and the ambient temp in my computer room is the usual hot summer 30C

If your case supports the wide radiator that's the way to go. If nothing else it well allow you to run the fans at a lower rpm, reducing the noise. 90% of the time I run mine at 700 rpm.

The larger unit well allow for future upgrades.

Core temp seems to be the better reading 1.1409, cpu-z doesn't seem to read correct. I am set on balanced as Steve suggested for power options.

I vote for the cleaner layout of the Sabertooth but it's only about looks and if the case is windowless likely saving the extra coin for the armor is worth it.

Those temps aren't startling but they should fall like crazy with a 240 bolted in ! Have you made a choice on the model yet?

Yeah, I don't have a clear side panel now...but I will in the future

1.1409 is your VID, which is different from your Vcore voltage. Have you got CPU-Z version 1.65? I think that cleared up some peoples' issues about not showing your voltage under load.

Also, the Sabertooth TUF armor is cool, but what's inside is what makes that board special. It's got high end components, from the capacitors to the VRM power phases. It handles higher frequency RAM better than quite a few of the other boards(ask Paul about that), and has a 5 year warranty. I've been 100% happy with mine, I can tell ya that.

That was running IBT, it held steady

I ran it this time with voltage on auto. Dropped it too 4.0. This is entering the third pass in IBT.



It fluctuated between 1.08 and the reading it shows.

And running prime, voltage did not fluctuate at all

Prime95 will keep it under load continuously while IBT will ramp up and down. IBT will put it under more stress total, but like I said, it will test, then spool down, then back up, etc. If that is reading your voltage correctly, 1.1 or lower is pretty good for 4-4.2GHz. Does your CPU cooler fan ramp up when it's under load? What connection does your CPU fan have, 3-pin or 4-pin?

It's 3 pin, using a adapter to power both fans

If you want to know what a good water cooler will do for you, here ya go. First is @ Idle, temps in the mid 20's. Second is @ 100% load running IBT @ 4.5GHz, 1.264v-1.272v.
