Web connection ok, can't connect 2 Win7 PCs

I have a Win7 Home premium 32 bit desktop, hardwired,
Win7 Home premium 64 bit laptop, wifi/hardwired,
Linksys wrt54gs version 6 router.

The internet connection works fine on both machines. Both machines ''see'' each other in the network, but i can not access either machine from the other.

The laptop is new, so i am sure the problem is with it, but i can't get it.

I have shares set on both machines, but can't access either one. I was able to share fine both ways with my old laptop (win7 32 bit).

I reset the router and all of it's settings. The workgroup is the same on both machines. I am not using homegroup (it didn't work either).

What security software do you have installed on your computers?

Sorry, I new I would forget something. I had Comodo firewall and antivirus on the laptop, but it is currently uninstalled. So on the laptop nothing. Comodo Firewall (free) and free Avast antivirus on the desktop.

Uninstall comodo and avast, reboot, and try again.

Once you setup the homegroup. Did you go to start and right click on Documents, Music etc and tick the share with read/wite ?

I don't have homegroup set up. I did at one point, but took it all off. I do have shares set up.

Last week end I did finally get them to communicate. I went out on the road, came home, and now they won't share again. They see each other, but that's all.

I have share with 3 comps. Limited but OK. I mean (as you know) only a few folders available. Sorry can't help, good luck, I'm sure that there are people on this forum that can (and hopefully will) help you.
