I used to dabble in websites a long time ago and used arachnophilia from arachnoid.com. It's an HTML editor rather than a wysiwyg, which I preferred because it gave me much better control of the outcome.

Thanks for the info but neither of those are what I'm looking for. I dabbled with basic html stuff in the past but I would like to take it a step further and dreamweaver costs money

If you want something free,but really simple,you can try Kompozer from Mozilla.

What exactly do you want it to do? I design quite a lot of websites and just use Notepad++ works great for me!

Exactly. Plus I don't do this for a living so I don't need a high end package, just something to mess around with...

I'm slightly confused about what exactly you want, chances are you'll need to type some code anyway, because part of the thing that makes dreamweaver so expensive is because it creates the code for you as you design........

Writing your own code is the best way to go, its not that hard either.

Thanks I'll check it out. Been playing around with HTML for about a year now and its ok but can achieve so much more with css though...

css doesn't do anything on its own - it only makes the html look pretty.

if you really want to get into 'achieving' stuff, learn a bit of javascript, but then you don't like code...

Yeah I'm lazy to write code, I guess it'll stagnate at the point where it is now... ho hum...
