Webcam drivers for acer aspire 1410 notebook (11.6")

Have you attempted Skype again after updating the Flash Player like derekimo suggested?

Can you post a screenshot of your startup tab in msconfig.

I used the control panel method instructions and had to make 3 screen shots to show all the components. There is no other webcam software installed, though ACER Videoconferencing is shown...FWIW.

You have a lot of things starting up when windows starts.

Uncheck the video conferencing item, click apply, ok your way out and restart when asked.

Then see if your skype will work.

I think you may solved the problem, the error message still state that the webcam may be used by another program, and the Acer Video Conferencing could be it.

sympatic is your mouse pad, the webcam is used by other programs and websites. the actual driver lets you see yourself. windows installed its own driver for webcam. windows photo gallery and movie maker uses webcam under the windows driver.
run the command prompt as administrator. im willing to bet theres corrupt files and acer deleted the tool for windows to fix them. their idea to fix corrupt files is factory default restore. if your harddrive has drive C and drive D, then its factory default restore. thats why i did clean install of win7 of a OEM System Builder Pack of 32bit home premium. got rid of acer default restore and have just windows only.

you can try uninstalling skype and going to their site to download it from them. its free to download.

its best to do a clean install of win7 full version, sbux has the same software as i did with vista. acer just removed vista and added win7. he has orion skype acer arcade probably win dvd to take place of windows media player a lot of google crap, home web page is default to google. google was a culprit to windows. windows dont like for something to make changes to it. instead of buying both DVD's of windows and using one. buy a system builder pack, its loaded with more driver for getting it going. going with full version all he needs is drivers for graphics (vga) sound card and webcam driver from the 32bit vista home premium. im actually using the webcam driver for the aspire 5517, i have the 5515. you can check acer doesnt offer win7 for the 5515. those that bought the 5515 in may of 2009 or later got a free upgrade to win7, in reality they got back a emachine e620.

They can use the second link I posted above to get a clean install using the win 7 key that they already own.

Try an alternative driver

Hi, this happened to me only it was a sound issue. When I contacted Acer, they suggested an alternative driver. I asked where I should get an alternative driver. The tech went onto explain that Acer no longer is supporting driver updates for my NB and to try a driver app called DriverAgent. What DriverAgent does is scans your PC and lists not only drivers from the manufacturer, but it also lists alternative drivers known to work with your device or PC. So in my case, Acer didn't have an update. But after scanning with DriverAgent, they pointed me to a newer driver directly from the sound chip maker. Worked perfectly. Just a suggestion.....

I've downloaded the latest version of Skype and wish to use my built-in webcam. I'm being told when I attempt to use Skype that there is a problem with my video device. I thought I'd downloaded and installed the correct drivers after I recently reformatted my system's HDD, but still the message appears.

Going to the ACER website for driver support is inconclusive because there are several versions of different manufacturers' webcam drivers -- for both a Suyin model and a Chicony model. Results differ in two of the different utilities that I've run for detection of the correct manufacturer...one utility identified Chicony, one did not

Can someone please help me solve this mystery so I can finally get to camming again on Skype?

theres several forums where people are complaining about the acer crystal eye webcam isnt working any more after updates and up grades or stopped working after a few months. might be best to buy external webcam and clip on monitor. acer has to many drivers for one webcam and trying to find right driver that will work is trial and error. when acer started installing win7 they were still using vista drivers till the other software companies came out with win7 drivers. if you have realtek sound card you can use their drivers direct from their website. i installed their 2.72 driver, has built in equalizer.

Right...after approaching 80 messages, I'd take anything, but my question in retrospect wouldn't make any sense b/c I already have the Realtek and still no-go! I could attach an external webcam...have a pretty good Microsoft model that orig went for about $75, but I don't like the idea of something not working that should be working, especially when it did before. I DO like the idea of a clean install, but also respect my fears that it might prove to be too complex even though I humbly ID myself as an intermediate user. There always seem to be issues that crop up for which I personally have no answer :/ What kind of an investment $$$ amd I facing?
