When using an i7, whats the safe temperature limit while gaming? I mean the maximum you can go without having to worry about getting a cool pad etc?

I'm assuming a laptop? The max temp (where throttling occurs) is 100c. I see threads where people report 85c to 90c when gaming. This is quite hot, but unfortunately, quite common. A laptop cooler would be a wise investment! A Guy

Yes, a laptop.

So, are these figures safe for the components?

I was looking how exactly the air flow works in a laptop, but search didn't gave any good results.

Is it that the laptop takes air from the bottom and blows away the hot air from the vents which are usually on the left side of the laptop? I have sometimes noticed, the bottom is almost cool but the vent on the left gets hot.

The hotter a processor, then the shorter the lifetime.

Try to keep your temps down.

I don't use any of those laptop coolers, but ratherr blow air from a desk fan directly on the area of the processor.

Also turn the display brightness down to the minimal acceptable level.

Run at the lowest power level consistent with the performance needed.
