Actually your results are excellent by any standards. I was just pulling your leg on the "intel chipsets". In reality Intel chipset are great. No offence meant and my apologies.

that is fast but shouldn't it be faster than that?
i have 8gb of ocz dr2 1066 pulling 16600 mb/s

No offense intended but, that's a little low for DDR3 triple channel, should be in the +20k range.

My DDR3 Dual channel is 19,422 MB/s.
Stock, as advertised, settings. Had to change them in the BIOS as default board settings are low.

Might want to check the RAM settings.

The original timings were 9-9-9-24, but they're capable of 7-7-7-20, which I put them to and that only increased it by 200MB/s. The RAM was originally a triple channel kit, but would that be a problem? I bought it off a friend who upgraded and had it in triple channel on his i7, but would that slow it down that much if it was running in dual channel?

Well even so now I think about it, even if it was in single channel, I should be getting up to 10,000MB/s.

For the life of me, I couldn't find a manual with BIOS settings for your board.

There has to be to be a performance option/setting that is currently set for slower performance.

I've posted over on the Corsair forums, I'll see if I get anywhere with them.

And yea it's a great board. I did have a 750i motherboard before this as well and never had any problems with either the 750 or 790

TBH, that looks like it's running in dual channel.

Perhaps that particular board switches to dual channel with the fourth dimm occupied.

Some boards will still retain tri-channel with extra ram, whilst others will not.

Yea, I was pulling what I am now with this RAM when I had my 667MHz stuff at 750MHz. I've checked high and low in BIOS and messed with everything in the clock speeds area. I tried changing slots as well, so instead of using slot 1 and 3, tried 2 and 4 and still no go.


The top post on here has a list of all the options in the 790i BIOS for overclocking 790i Ultra/Q9550 Overclocking Issues - NVIDIA Forums.

I've posted over on the Corsair forums, I'll see if I get anywhere with them.

Everest and SiSoft also only report around 7000MB/s too.

Is EPP 2.0 enabled or disabled? The RAM may not being playing nice with EPP 2.0 enabled (guessing here)


Slot 1 and 3 (2nd and fourth physical) are definitely the dimms to be in

EPP 2.0 is just a big marketing scam really, plus the RAM isn't EPP 2.0 ready. All EPP 2.0 does is just run the RAM at the fastest possible settings, which can be reached with any normal RAM with manual settings.

Well it's greyed out for me, so it's disabled. I guess I'll just leave it now because I can't find any info anywhere on why it's doing it. It still runs fine, but it's just annoying really :huh:

60ns, which I'm guessing is alright? I've seen 1066 stuff at 80ns.
