When rebooting, how do I retain shutdown window sizes?

When I reboot or come out of Sleep or Hybernation mode, my open windows return to some sort of default size which I don't understand. I'd like them to return to the size I had them when the computer was last running. Thank you.......

It's probably caused by your video card or video card driver losing it's set resolution. ]

See if you can update it to a newer version.

To program windows of any type to open to a size you want maintained, you need to drag them to that size using your mouse to left-click-drag and then click the middle Maximize button a few times from the top right of window.

However you cannot let the window touch any edge of the screen or it will react with a "Aero snap" effect which means you'll need to close the window and start over.

I discovered this after years of not being able to get Windows 7 to program windows to open exactly where I want them, which is almost always full screen. But because I was trying to drag them full screen, I was touching the edges of the screen when I dragged them which always spoils the operation. Once I dragged them as close to the edge as I could without touching it, the Aero Snap feature didn't spoil the programming any longer.

There is one more thing you must do though when you get the window dragged to where you want it. Go to the upper right middle button to Maximize and click it a few times. This programs the window to open to where you want it. If it goes back to where you want it every time you click it, then it has worked. If not close the window and start over.

I have tried that method - but I'll try it again as you suggest. Perhaps there's a program/app that will assure that this happens.

I have the latest driver............

I have the latest driver. What now? Remember, it only happens with these shortcuts:

1. System (from the Control Panel)
2. Computer (from the Start Menu)
3. Sound (from the Control Panel)
4. A specific printer (from Devices and Printers)
5. The CD/DVD drive (from Computer)

It seems to me, because my Desktop is almost full of Icons and these are the only ones I have a problem with, there is a clue here because of where they came from. But I can't decipher the clue.

Yes, there is a small program called Windows Sizer which I used on installs until I found out the trick I gave you above which always works.

If it doesn't work its because you touched the window to the edge of the screen while dragging. Close the window and start over.

Once you drag the window to where you want without touching the sides of screen, click the middle (Maximize) button at top right 4 times.

OK, will try tomorrow. Thank you.......
