Where is F8?

Not sure if this is the right place, but let's try. I cannot get my system to recognize the F8 key at boot time (it used to.) I am running Windiws 7 Home Premium using a Logitech MX3200 Cordless Desktop. This is not a new system, and 7 has been up and running since launch. The cordless desktop has been attached since before the update to 7.

I make sure to update the system whenever updates are available. If I abort the load of Windows by powering down the system, I can get into safe mode (pain in the neck.)

I repeatedly tap the button during boot or hold the button until Windows load. Neither method seems to work.

Can anybody help, or at least direct me someplace that can?

One way of getting into safe mode if F8 is not working is to check its box in msconfig.

As for F8 not working, it may be a hardware issue, try out a different keyboard.

You may have an Fn keylock which needs to be engaged before it will recognize those keys. I come across these occasionallly.

Try another keyboard to see if it is indeed your keyboard as is likely. Then have it handy in case you need to use F8, or use Bill2's workaround when you can access Windows.

Only had another Logitech Wireless Keyboard, so I did that. Same problem. Will try the msconfig route. Thanks.
