Solved Where to route my 8 pin

Well heres the images currently its going across my motherboard and gpu any ideas where to route it? there seems to be no room at the back of my case to route a 8pin directy from the back to the socket



P.S I know the h60 block is upside down there is a reson due to presure and the amd mountin g system being crap so I had to make do

Have you tried routing it through the cable management slots? You might have to get an 8-pin extender if your PSU cable isn't long enough. I attached an image to show you what I mean.

Try routing the cable before you put the side panel BEHIND the CPU and MOTHERBOARD on so that you have more room to get the 8-pin connector through.

I don't believe it will but wait until someone else chimes in. I don't want to give incorrect info that could potentially screw your system.

Isn't that what the braid is meant to prevent beside mangling from fans? It is non-conductive. Besides, inside the wires still have an insulating covering.

Get an 8-pin extension and either run it through the cable management part of your case, or route it along the side and top of your motherboard.

I would worry more about the cable coming in contact with something hot on the underside of the MOBO, melting the insulation, and then shorting out. The space between the MOBO and the MOBO plate is a bit tight for that cable. hArLtRon's suggestion of using the case cable management slots would be your best bet. You would need to get a cable extension like this one. Just run the cable from the PSU into the slot in hArLtRon's illustration, back out through the top slot, then run it parallel to the top of the MOBO to the CPU ATX socket. Any excess can be kept tucked behind out of sight.

Many, if not most, PSU manufacturers have yet to figure out most cases now mount the PSU on the bottom and that cable needs to be longer.

I didn't know it was non conductive I brought it to make my system look better if anything lol.


I have decided i will buy an 8pin extender and route it throught my cabe management holes and come out of the top one then I will use the extender to run it along the very top of my case hiden and held in place by my top fan and lead it down to the socket

Welcome - that is what I did (NZXT 8 pin extender).

Just a question considering you need a 8 pin extender, is your PSU's fan facing down or up? because if its facing up your loosing quite a lot of cable length, because there should not really be an issue with cable length

Not all cases that mount the PSU on the bottom have a way for a PSU fan to get air if mounted fan down so one has no choice but to mount fan up.

i ran mine between the case and the video cards in the back all my cards have a square cut out on them
