Which Defrag programs?

@Klaw117

It should just procede. The nice thing is it's a quick optimization. Usually only takes around 5 minutes, if that.

@mitchell I'm guessing it should require an administrative command prompt. The window should have Administrator: current directory

in the caption bar. Usually if you get it from Start Menu Accessories it wil be an admin command prompt.

@Pichu glad it worked for you and thanks for the rep. :)
edit: btw I hope you don't mind I ripped off part of your
sig. You put it succinctly. ;)

Yes i have to right click on the shortcut & run as Admin.
If i dont the command window just appears for a split second and boot defrag does not start

How come everyone wants to use a defragger? If your on 7 or Vista it does it automatic unless you switch it off. What's the point when what you gain is millisecs. I don't get it?
Or, is it that you gain 5 seconds of your life each session on a computer?
Just asking not a rant!

If you analyze other people's HDD, you'll notice that they can actually benifit an average of 3-10 seconds optimization from defragging, depending on the seriousness of the number of fragments.

Thanks! I left it running, ate dinner, then when I came back, it was done!

I'm considering deleting MyDefrag now and going back to Windows Defragmenter.

I don't want to start any defrag wars, but if you like MyDefrag you might like Puran. If you enable all the options, it's pretty close to MyDefrag "daily optimize" script. If you disable the options, it's pretty close to Auslogics quicky defrag. Those were the 2 I was using before somebody tipped me Puran went free for personal use. I've only been using it a couple of weeks, but I like it so far. And it doesn't stop me from doing the '-b' trick with the command line defrag.exe.

Been using smart defrag for ages now. It's a neat lightweight little app that also does a few other minor jobs and best of all it's free.

It also runs in the background but only defrags when the computer has been inactive for x amount of time(set your own).

I've used many of the programs on this page, Im currently using TUneUp to help speed up my computer its all going well. Im finding Im having much graphic lag its quite annoying after updating my drivers that helped so if you see if theres any new drivers for your computer that might somewhat help you speed up your PC.

If your still looking for defrag programs I found this webpage (From when I replied to another thread) check it out it could be of some assistence Defrag Software Reviews - Top Defrag Programs 2010

Tune Up is a joke. It does absolutely nothing to the speed of your PC.
