I've used that Kaspersky Beta for windows 7 and had the problem that when I performed a full scan (everything set to very thoroughly scan, heuristic etc.).the problem it got stuck and the computer needed to be shut down per RESET (nothing worked). It didn't happen with the quickscan. The rest worked well (background check etc.).
Ironically I have a valid Kaspersky license for 440+ (edited) days for all my 3 PCs, so I didn't even need to use the free Beta.

Does the 2010 Kaspersky suite have the same problem? I heard the 2009 isn't suitable for windows 7.

BTW: I have the 64 bit RC 7100. I read a lot that Kaspersky worked, but on 32-bit (Sorry, 8 GB RAM, only 64 bit :-)

Now I'm using Avast. It found a virus from a torrent, but couldn't delete it. (Kaspersky could delete everything).
Before I experiment too much, will Kaspersky 2010 work (not officially from Kaspersksy supplied... weird). I could try the 2009, but when I spend all my weeks trying (especially since it behaves weird only on certain scenarios), I will never know.

The Kaspersky "8" I only could use as Beta, it wouldn't accept my key.
One thing I learned while using Avast, Kaspersky is worth its money (once it works with the OS). I'm not mad at Kaspersky for not working, after all W7 is not officially sold yet. but when the free software can be W7 compatible, it should be possible for a paid software.

If none of the Kasperskies work perfectly yet, I just keep using Avast for the time being. After much reading I believe Kaspersky is the best software and it has worked very well in XP 32 and Vista 64 (the 7 version, I didn't even upgrade to 2009 for those pre-W7 OS)

I used Kaspersky Beta for windows 7 and had the same problem with it crashing the OS on scans. I'm now using Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 on both a 32bit versions of Windows 7 and 64 bit and the scanning works fine.

how did you activate it? When I use my activation key I had for my "Kaspersky 7" license it didn't work and I'm now installing it as trial for 30 days.
I hope I'm eligible for the current version or whatever version will work with W7 since I paid for 3 year/ 3 users and I have 440+ more days for my license.
If they make me pay again, then this was the last time I buy a 3-year license :(

Edit: I think the problem is, that the 2010 I downloaded is a " commercial" and my license probably is " home". do they have a home-version of 2010 already?

I'm right now starting it.. it really looks good.

I've been upgrading builds of Windows 7 so i kept with the trial edition each time. Your get free upgrades to newer versions of Kaspersky for the length of your licence which I find very good.
I have seen a few posts on the Kaspersky website with the same problem as yours. Often they say it depends if it has been released in your country yet. The US site is still showing 2009.

It seems on their website they only offer the 2009 home (which likely causes W7-64 Problems). I hope they come up with the 2010 officially soon. does anyone know whne KAspersky switches the model-year?

I'm planning on keeping the RC 7100 until October when I can buy W7. Unless I can find a registry trick to extend the trial version I need an alternative.
(I don't think the trick to extend the trial-life woudl be illegal, since I own a key...)

It is full scanning now, it seems much faster than older versions and hasn't crashed yet. It gives me a message I'm at risk since it is the trial version. Grrr.... give us the official 2010 already!!! :geek:
