When I enter a "net share ..." command occasionally I am getting an error:

"The Server service is not started"

Exactly which service is responsible for the "net share" command?

I can't find an appropriate one in Service Mangement Console

Hi,

Your error message states that the Server Service is responsible for the command working.

Looking up Server service, I get "Supports file, print, and named-pipe sharing over the network for this computer. If this service is stopped, these functions will be unavailable. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start." (Source: Black Viper).

If the Server service is not visible in Services.msc, then check to see if "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" is installed for your Network Connection. This item can be found in Network and Sharing Centre > Change adapter settings, then right-mouse click on your network adapter, and select Properties from the list. "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" item is listed on the Properties page for the adapter. The options are to Install or Uninstall the item.
