Went here:
amiusingipv6.com
test-ipv6.com
Both said I'm using IPv4 and that "Your DNS server (possibly run by your ISP) appears to have no access to the IPv6 Internet, or is not configured to use it."
We just got a new modem from Verizon a couple weeks ago because the old one - we were told - didn't support IPv6, which was apparently needed for my wife's VPN when she works from home because they upgraded her laptop. The old modem and the upgraded laptop did not work, the new modem works. So I assumed we were all IPv6'd up.
Then we wondered if she works from, say, her parents' house or my parents' house - what if IPv6 access isn't available to residential customers where they live? Will she be able to connect to her VPN or get stuck like with our old router? I thought - well, ask them to check those websites I listed above here. Then I checked them myself for the first time thinking we were all set - nope, and then I started this thread.
So how does one configure IPv6? The box for it is checked in my Network and Sharing Center properties. Verizon says we're in the small percentage of residential customers who can use this with them - I didn't see any settings in the router configs, but maybe I missed them.
Like I said, everything is working fine so it's not a practical problem just a personally confounding one.
