Solved Why can I NOT connect to windows.time.com ??

clock is wrong
service is started
hit "update now" on "Internet Time" tab in clock settings - timeout.

So I go to browser, enter windows.time.com and get timeout - on any/all browsers.

why is this? i have win 7 x64 home prem, all up to date....

no errors in the windows log

Mine times out, too, but it sets the time correctly when I do it. Does your time set correctly?

Third Party Software

Are you running PeerBlock or some third party firewall? Both can interfere with connection to time servers.

Check your system clock: Accurate Time

Try running TimeSync and use a few different time servers.

Try Atomic to check for any problems with the time service:

I have had problems with windows.time.com.
time.nist.gov works well.

You can't expect to connect to any of these time servers with a browser.

Ditto. Change the time server in the drop-down menu to time.nist.gov. I suspect MS servers are pretty busy this time of the month.

A couple of things come to mind.

If your motherboard bios battery is weak and the time in your bios is far off you will not be able to set and keep the time close enough to be able to sync to the online time.

If your time in Windows 7 is far off the sync will not work. Set Windows time, date ect. close to actual and the try sync with internet time.

battery has no effect on ability to connect to a time server.

finally punted "windows" in favor of another clock site; time.nist.gov - it worked/works.
