Why can't I install Adobe CS4 Software?

Strange things people do witih drives eh?
Dunno.

As for Photoshop... yeah extended is the way to go. I presently have CS3 and dunno what CS4 offers but I do have it --but thank you for your offer anyway. I will install more of these CS4 apps once I hear back from Adobe on why media parts of flash don't work for me and what to do about that. Do I need them, etc.

If you haven't tried this already, try putting the two installation folders/files from the trial in C:/ instead of on the desktop which is the default location the Adobe setup puts them when you extract the downloaded trial. I found it ran and installed fine from the root folder of C:.

moving the location of the installer files is a good idea.

BUT after extensive calls with Adobe and then later with Dell, who logged into my system with me, I had to reinstall Windows.

Dell tried 6hrs of stuff with me there on the pc one night and at this point, other Adobe products were now having problems. What they found was that residual junk in my other partitions and a potential error in my previous installation of Windows 7 in Jan may have caused some problems. The suggestion was to delete those old partitions and totally reformat the drive.

I rolled my eyes in pain knowing I would need to reinstall everything and so they walked me through a special delete of all things on my PC and I started over.

I reinstalled Win7 and after a few necessities being installed first, I put on my Adobe suite with flying colors. Everything works fine. I installed 5 Adobe products (cant do the master suite cuz I read on Adobe's site that premiere and after effects only work with 64bit)

Fortunately, putting back everything else worked out nicely and didn't take TOO long to do after all.

It was never determined exactly WHAT was wrong with my old set up but whatever it was, it's gone now. In the end, it seems Adobe simply needs a cleaner drive to be put on.

Think I figured it out...

After hours of frustration and trying every other suggestion, here's what finally worked for me:

Run msconfig>Startup tab>Check "Disable All"

In the Services tab, check "Hide all Microsoft Services," then check "Disable All"

Restart then try the install again. Worked for me at least...

Solution

There are min Requirements for installing CS4 Check if your system meets the Req:

  1. System
  2. Adobe CS4 requires Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, Ultimate or Enterprise editions. Adobe CS4 can also be installed on a Apple PC running Mac OS X version 10.4.1 or later.Processor and RAM
  3. Adobe CS4 will require a minimum 1.8 GHz processor. A 2 GHz or faster processor is recommended for better performance. Adobe CS4 also requires a minimum of 512 megabytes of RAM to be installed on a system. While this is adequate, increasing to 1 gigabyte or greater will provide a better user experience.Disk Space
  4. The amount of disk space needed can vary from system to system. Installing Adobe CS4 on a Windows XP or Vista system will require at least 9 gigabytes of free space. Installing on an Apple OS X system will require at least 10 gigabytes of available disk space. Additional disk space might be required for temporary files during installation.DVD Drive
  5. The Adobe CS4 program comes on a DVD. As a result, a DVD-ROM or DVD/RW drive will be required to install the program. A DVD drive has become a standard component on new computers, so this should not be a problem.Video Card
  6. A video or graphics card is required for the program with a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768 for the display. A video or graphics card also needs to be a minimum of 16 bit. Windows XP and Vista use 32 bit graphics, so this should not be a problem for newer computer systems.Internet
  7. A connection to the Internet is required for certain online services and updates that are made available for the program. Some features that are used with Adobe CS4 might be hosted online, which will require an Internet connection to access.

Guys, I am so confused... is CS4 Design Premium compatible with Windows 7 HOME PREMIUM edition or not? I have a good price on CS4 as I can't stretch to CS5 but my new HP G62 notebook PC (64-bit) only has the HOME edition of Windows 7. Can I risk buying CS4 or do I have to upgrade my OS?

I'm having a same problem with Windows 7 Ultimate and with Adobe Creative Suite 5. I tried versions 4, 5.0 and 5.5 - with all same result. Older version 3 did still install still ok. Installation of CS4 or newer immediately halts to a "Adobe Setup had stopped working" error.

I've tried full uninstall, Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and disabling all services with msconfig - without any success.

I am trying to install Master Suite SC4 on a windows 7 (64 bit) machine.

I click the setup.exe, I confirm that I want to istall, in the task manager I see setup start up, then it disapears. no error and I cant really find anything in the activity logs.

I am pulling my hair out! I run it under my account with admin rights and as local admin and no change..

This is a legal installtion and not a Trial install

Adobe says it is compatible with win7
