Why do people get BSODs

Well I am glad you are still referring to my tutorial. Then the work was useful.

More than useful time wise priceless

Saved the same acer install twice already
Once with gpu tweak and again with ie11 install that went bad
3 times in windows 10 in less than a week lol trying to find a drivers happy medium resetting group policy is a pain in the rear :roflmao:

The only times I get BSOD is due to driver incompatibility (nasty little critters). Don't trust Windows Update to get manufacturer-specific drivers. I was being lazy.

I don't like the BSODs in the newer OS versions. They don't show the hex error code. How am I supposed to know what went wrong?

If you have got Windows using the recommended settings, it should create the dump files upon crashing, which should be created at %SYSTEMROOT%/minidump and if you use WinDbg(Windows Debugger) you can check what cause the crash and oh here are some useful commands: WinDbg

I had a few BSOD's when they kept releasing new versions of MBAM with a buggy driver:

Others were down to me doing something stupid like killing a critical process or deleting a driver. I learned from those mistakes.

I've had a number of BSODs over the years.
On my XP rig, I got BSODs because of mobo damage, caused by a dying power supply. Windows was not at fault.
On my XP rig and my present 7 machine, I've gotten BSODs from my Diamond sound card driver, cmudax3.sys. It's supplied by the card vendor but it's never been signed by M$.
I lost track of how many BSODs I had with Win95!
