Solved why is restore not restoring my emails?

I have recently upgraded vista to 7. Intially I did it as an upgrade but with no improvement in performance so I opted to do a complete reinstall. I used the backup and restore wizard on the control panel to backup my system prior to doing this. When I then did the full install of windows 7 I chose a different user name for the computer and then ran the restore wizard again. None of my emails or email accounts have found their way into windows live mail. I have been able to find them however in the backup file.
How can I get them back?

I'm thinking that you have to change the profile being used by WLM. It may be using the default profile. I'll check for a tutorial that may help.
