Why Registered Window has Single partition ?

Bit defender , Webroot SecureAnywhere 2013 those are paid programs . If you want to go with a free one there're tons of people here that like MSE(Microsoft Security Essentials)

I would have been able to help you better if I had been able to understand your problem better at first. If you have slow boot up performance it is due to your slow HDD and a combination of startup programs, this is a laptop so I am going to assume it's 5400rpm, did some research on your laptop model by default that's what they come with.

However if your system is taking as long as 4 minutes to boot up, this may not be directly related to the HDD. It could be that your system has been infected.

When was the last time you scanned your computer and with what.

PMFJI. Agree: Deep scan for infections with a good app (IE, Malwarebytes). Appears your system has always been slow, but that could mean it was infected from the get go (it happens). As for partitions, BACK UP FIRST, then make yourself happy, split your drive in two -- shrink your current partition then create a new D partition in the free space. Put all least accessed data on your new D partition, and keep everything defragmented. And don't expect much faster boot time, not with a system loaded with many apps. Do away with stuff you don't use.

As others have said, McAfee is terrible. Make sure to use their removal tool when uninstalling it, or else it will leave a lot of stuff behind. Since you asked about reinstalling it later; yes, you can. You can download the program itself for free from McAfee's website, but I can't see why you'd want to.

Looking at your picture . You might want to start off by removing utorrent from your computer . We don't help people who pirate software . That's where you might have caught an infection . Regarding reinstalling McAfee some other time if you have a legit key for it you may install it on any computer you see fit . Personally I'd stay away from McAfee all togegether . When you buy a PC from a retail store like Best Buy the software and games that come with it are trial software unless you purchased the McAfee software at the time of purchasing the laptop .

I'd create recovery disc

Click :orb: then click All Programs, click Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 and click Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0.

Click Create My Recovery Disc(s) Now then click Next .

Insert a blank DVD in the DVD burner, click Next and follow the prompts provided as the Recovery Disc creation takes place.

After the disc(s) have been created, click Finish .

Then delete the Recovery partition and do what you want with it . Most people move their documents away from the C drive . But first and foremost remove the utorrent program or you will not get any more help from here and may be banned . Just giving you a heads up . It would be better for you and your computer .

A bit OT but is the presence of a torrent app sufficient to assume piracy? Have never used torrents myself, but aren't they used for legit sharing (as well as pirated stuff)? Given the problem at hand I can see connecting the dots... but from this newcomer's POV the assumption and warnings seem a bit harsh. After all how many are helped here without any awareness of them even having a legit Windows license! Just my nickle's worth, no offense to anyone.

POV=Privately own vehicle?

I do agree about uTorrent, I have it too but do not download pirated software. Some time back My Digital Life, the Official MS distributor used a torrent as the only way to download Official Vista .iso files.

I agree with you. Sometimes torrenting is just the preferred way of downloading/distributing software. Also, we link to torrent software here on sevenforums, so you could say its even hypocritical. Example (scroll down to Halite): http://www.sevenforums.com/software/11082-free-native-64-bit-programs.html

Okay we are not a bunch of dummies here. We do know why a torrent is use for 99% of the time.

Just keep in mind so do the people who create infections. They are not dummies either. Torrents are one of the best ways to get infected.

I have never installed, used, or tried in any way a torrent and I have never had a problem downloading anything.

If you use a torrent it is not well you get infected it is when you will get infected. Like I said, the bad people you create infection and pass them around are not dummies.

Let me clarify myself before y'all start bashing someone . If you gave read my comment I said heads up . Maybe he or she doesn't download pirate stuff but most people use torrents for downloading pirated software . I also mentioned that if his stuff are pirated he won't get any help from here . Yes I know people use torrents to share files but people do use it to get pirated stuff . I believe MS uses digitalriver for distribution . I never said his or her windows is pirated . I just gave him or her a heads up .

Maybe showing my age but those are old shorthand for Off Topic and Point Of View; or are you just teasing. :p New here, maybe shorthand is not useful IE in case newbies don't understand it? Better to write things out completely in these forums? Point me to some guidelines if that seems useful. Come to think "IE" often means Internet Explorer, so I guess the answer is do away with shorthand... after all, we aren't texting.

As for torrents, yes, I'd forgotten about that MS connection, oops, MICROSOFT connection ;) ...perhaps in a new thread it'd be worth discussing legit torrent use. 99% pirating? Who has the stats on this?
