Why so long to backup

11 hours to back up about 25 Gigs when it usually only takes 10 minutes on C drive? I talk with Toshiba which is the Laptop I have and they said it only comes with 2 partitions and so did best buy but it has 3 partitions. I guess the laptop is booting on the 1.45 GB partition because it's the active partition. I figure they have it there for a reason. So my question is how am I going to back this up showing these partitions?

My usual disclaimer: I'm not an expert in anything.

It's not unusual for newer laptops to have three partitions - a recovery partition around 10-15GB, a master boot record partition around 100-200MB, and the main C: partition equal to the size of the hard drive minus the recovery and MBR partitions.

I''ve found that occasionally a backup or system image will just hang or freeze for no apparent reason. If I cancel the back up and try again it works without a problem. I'm guessing you're backing up to the Passport E: drive. I'd cancel the backup, safely remove the E: drive, and reboot my computer. Then I'd plug the E: drive back in, let the computer recognize it, then check to see if the failed backup left anything on the drive. If it did, delete it because it won't be any good. Then I'd try the backup again.
