Win 10 (from 7 Ultimate) upgrade wants to wipe all settings

When upgrading I get"windows version is on a not supported folder" and all other settings greyed out but clean install.
My C drive is on a SSD.

Using MediaCreation tool

Do you have a clone of SSD? Perhaps old HDD still attached. Any dual booting?

Old drive attached bit no operating system on it.

The active bit on D may be causing the issue. Try removing Disk0 and booting with only SSD. If you can boot without any issues, try upgrading again without old drive attached.

Later reattach the old drive and remove the active bit from partition D (old drive) as described in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/197157-partition-mark-inactive.html. You can also remove the System Reserved partition from old drive when all is done.

Post a screenshot of C please. Did you download a wrong bit version of the installer perhaps?

What bit is your Windows and the installer you downloaded?

I have no idea what is going on for you, a Google search for the error only point back to this thread.

I have also tried ISO DVD...I noticed that it wnt's to upgrade to 8.1...nothing mentioned about Win 10

Do you have anything downloaded to the $Windows.~BT folder? I am not sure what to say about the 8.1 issue.

Hmm, it is looking in $Windows.~BT, try renaming the folder and re-run the installer.

done but nothing changed folder is automatically created

C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\NewSystem.dat - is this file created? Tried running the setup as admin?

Did scannow,started setup as admin no file named newsystem.dat......problem remains
