Hey everyone.....I'm hoping you can help me figure out what to do with this problem.

I've been having a problem with Win 7 crashing on me ever since I got my wireless card to work. It's a Linksys WMP54G V4 card. The drivers that came with the card didn't work right with 7, IE it would connect to the network, but wouldn't have any internet access. I read a couple forums where I could just use Ralink drivers, by manually choosing them in the Update Driver section on Device Manager. So, I get it working using the Ralink 802.11g PCI Wireless Adapter driver that Win 7 came with. Now, whenever I let the system idle for 30 minutes or more, it crashes.

The error it's reporting is as follows:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7100.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: d1
BCP1: FFFFF880016B9660
BCP2: 0000000000000002
BCP3: 0000000000000008
BCP4: FFFFF880016B9660
OS Version: 6_1_7100
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:

If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline:

I've attached the dump file and the XML file.

I need wireless on this computer, but I don't know if I can correct this problem or if I'll be stuck with it crashing all the time.

Any suggestions??

Thank

Brett

I'm not exactly sure how to read through this stuff. What should I be looking for specifically and it what section?

There were a bunch of Critical errors, all corrosponding with the computer trying to to enter Sleep Mode. I've disabled that, but I have to head out to work....hopefully it stays running this time.

Is there other information that would helpful at figuring this out?

Just curious...

A couple of things:

1 - is it a laptop that is going into power saving mode?
2 - have you tried a newer build?

I have an HP tx2500 series laptop that gives me BSODs if it goes into power saving mode while on wireless. The difference for me though is that the BSOD actually indicates it is a power saving issue.

I am currently running build 7232 because I don't want to install 7264 and run the risk of rearm running out before I can buy a copy. I have no intention of reinstalling yet AGAIN until I can put an RTM copy on :)

I really hope MS works these issues out before RTM. On this same laptop I ran Vista x64 and had ZERO problems with power saving modes, so I know it isn't a hardware issue.

I have also never had a BSOD with any build of W7 on my workstation, but it has all power saving disabled (except for monitor shutoff).

It's a desktop, and it looks like it happens when it goes into Sleep. I've disabled that as of now, so I guess I'll find out while I'm out for the day!

I didn't even know there were any newer builds out. I might have to try that if it keeps having this issue.....

Yup, looks like you are having the same issue. I am running the stock Broadcom drivers that come with Windows 7 however, so I don't think it is a driver issue (at least I would HOPE Microsoft wouldn't include drivers that weren't up to snuff).

There aren't any "official" new builds out .. you have to "find" them on the net. There are other threads around here that can help you with that. The latest leaked build is 7264 (for both 32 and 64 bit). From what I have been able to gather, it is based on the 7233 winmain tree though. In other words, there is only one build difference between 7232 and 7264 when it comes to "major bug fixes", so I hope the sleep issue was one of the bugs that was fixed in 7233, but this is getting way off topic for this thread.

Looks like it was an issue with the Sleep mode crashing the system. I checked and I'm still online on the home computer and it's been over an hour.

Thanks for the help everyone.....Eventvwr definitely was a plus to help resolve this. :)

Windows 7 has issues with storage drivers on some systems (when using Vista drivers) due to a certain section of the coding (from a problem that I submitted a bug report for). Sleep mode crashing is likely to be a separate issue from this crash scenario.

I renamed the .txt file that you uploaded (to .dmp) and am running the analysis as I type this....

The dump file blames the jswscimdx.sys driver - which likely belongs to a D-Link DWA-552 RangeBooster N Notebook Adapter. Uninstall that and see if it helps. If it does, and you need to reinstall the D-Link device, download a fresh copy from the D-Link support website.

As an aside, your Realtek networking drivers also appear to be old. I'd suggest updating them at the same time.

Here's the dump file analysis:
