Hi there :D

I am new here and I searched on your forum about issues with random freezes on Win 7 x64. I tested some solutions with no results.

Since I am on Win 7 x64 Business, I had experienced some random freezes in different cases. Playing a video on Youtube, playing game or, in word 2007, to put the number of the page (and it's reccurent).

I was first thinking about a memory problem so I ruled a memtest x86 4.xx to test my DDR3. But it seems it is working properly.

Searching on the net, I found that random freezes could appear in Win7. I don't really know what to do. Some say to clean the registry with a software. I tested CCleaner but it didn't change anything.

Do you think I have to make a new installation of Seven, now that some programs and drivers are updated to win7 ?

Thank four your answer :)

Hi and thank for your help :)

I tried to uninstall KAV 2010 and waited for the difference but I had a freeze watching a video, so I imagine that the AV is not the problem sadly.

Did you install the latest video driver from ATI's website? If not, do so.

Same thing for Flash, from Adobe's website.

Hi and welcome

You need to go into event viewer to see what the cause is. type eventvwr in search. go to the windows log>application tab. Look for errors (they have red in teh left hand column) that have app hang, app crash, app freeze in the description. there is a lot of data so yoou might want to wait until it has just happened. when you find them use the snipping tool (built into win 7) by typing snipping in search to make a screen shot of the error and upload it to us by using the attachment icon (shaped like a papaerclip) in the reply form

See pics

Please provide a translation (to the best of your ability) to the information in 30.png

Lot's of errors relating to:
- Movie Maker
- nwn2main.exe (Neverwinter Nights)
- fraps64.dll (FRAPS)
- fmodex.dll (may be a component of Crysis)

I suspect that the FRAPS program is at fault - but don't have any firm evidence for it. Please uninstall it to see if that makes things better.

Please do the following:
MSINFO32
Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

I don't recall if this has been done, but if it hasn't - please perform an independent antivirus scan on the system to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised. Here's a list of some free one's: http://www.carrona.org/malware.html

Thank for your answer :)

1) Here is my translation on the 30th image : "The description of ID event n°4373 in the source Windows Installer 3.1 is unfindable (sorry ^^). The component which activated this event is not located on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or fix the component in the local computer.

If the event came from another computer, the display information must have been saved with the event.

The following informations were included with the event :

Windows
Memory space insufficient to run this command."

2) Ok, I will uninstall Fraps to see if it makes any differences.

3) You already asked me the .nfo, did you had a text file again ?

4) Already done with eset and bitdefender ones and nothing.

Thank again :)

Thank you for the translation, it helps me out greatly! It says that there was a problem installing something, and that there wasn't enough memory space to run the installation. That gives us some clues on what to look for in the .NFO file.

Sorry, I do so many BSOD problems that I sometimes lose track of what I've asked. I wasn't able to open the .nfo file again.

The .nfo is now in what appears to be another format (similar to .xml). Let's try this to force the .nfo format:
If you're having difficulties with the format, please open a Command Prompt and type "msinfo32 /nfo C:\TEMP\TEST.NFO" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to the C:\TEMP directory to retrieve the TEST.NFO file. I have not verified if you need to "Run as adminstrator" or if you have to create the C:\TEMP directory if it does not exist - if you have these difficulties, please post back.

Beyond that, I'd suspect that the removal of FRAPS would help out - but in the absence of any real evidence I must state that this is just my opinion.

Good luck!

Hi and thank for your quick answer :)

1) Now that you said it, it appears that I had some error windows, the ones which say "The program must had not been installed correctly....." and where you can choose between "Try to install the program again" or "This program was correctly installed". I don't know if it is in relation however

2) Don't worry, I understand ;) I am glad you help me ;)

3) I tried to make the .nfo with the command but, at the end, it said "Acces denied" whereas I am running it on Administrator mode.

If you're having difficulties with the format, please open a Command Prompt by doing the following:
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"

Then type "msinfo32 /nfo C:\Users\Public\Desktop\TEST.NFO" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to the C:\Users\Public\Desktop directory to retrieve the TEST.NFO file.

This should overcome the permission issues - either due to the Run as administrator thing, or due to the permissions accessing the C:\Temp directory.

If it generated for you without errors - then it worked.
But it didn't give an .nfo file - but I've got enough to take a look at things.
I think the failure to make a correct file is a part of your problems, so let's keep that in mind.

Unfortunately, after all that work, there's no definite answer about the problem. Most of the stuff is a repetition of the error messages that you've posted - without any additional, supporting documentation that I could see.

Let's hold off trying the .nfo stuff and see if the FRAPS removal fixed things. Please post back if you get any further problems.
