Win 7 Corrupt?

Well I recently had Vista totally crash on my laptop. Being that I'm now a college student, my dad recommended seeing if I could get a good deal on Win7.
Well I did, but it had me download it to my now re-installed Vista, but it wanted me to install it on a different partition. So I did, but Vista had taken up 70GB of my 110GB Hdd. So being that I now had Win 7, and was running out of room on my 30GB Hdd, plus the fact that I really do not like Vista, I wanted to extend my W7 partition.
Now because my W7 patition was at the end of my Hdd, it wouldn't let me extend it. So I installed the EASEUS partition tool thing, and had it extend my hard drive. It worked but when I booted up W7, everything seemed normal, up until I put in my user password and it said "Welcome" like normal, but then it said "Preparing your desktop". I was like 'okay'. So long-story-short, Windows 7 logs into my user account, but that's it. Explorer.exe doesn't run at all until I open Task manager and run it manually, but even then there are a bunch of errors when trying to access the links on my start menu.
Also, I don't think this is related, but it has the little Windows Evaluation copy thing on my desktop because I installed SP1 Beta on W7 before I extended the HDD.

Hi jnmcneel and welcome

If you have your windows 7 dvd, you can do a repair install. Boot from the dvd and click on repair my computer.

If you have a backup you can restore from that would also be an option.

Failing all you can (and probably should) do a clean install on the partition. It is the best option for your situation

Let us know if you need further assistance with this

The problem

The problem is, I downloaded the upgrade, so I don't have a recovery disc. I've tried everything I can with my Vista DVD, but I think I may have some disc shipping to my house. I don't know exactly what it is.

Did you get a valid win 7 license from the place where you purchased it?

If so, you can download win 7 image and use the key you obtained.

Do you have a backup?

Did you totally wipe out the Vista partition & the option to boot it ? Could you redownload the win7 install from the student website into your win7 partition ? Then we can help you make an install DVD. Or from a friends computer ?

.

I'm currently on the house computer. I've already downloaded the iso that I got from my purchase. I can try to see if I can transfer it to my mom's laptop to burn to a disc. As for Vista, deleting that partition was one of the joys of transferring to W7, so it's long gone.
