O.K. Maybe the title is a tad 'click-baitish'. But I am suffering from a small reminder program. Long ago I installed an hourly chime to remind me I'm spending to much time on the net.

Hassle is this 'chime' is deafening & I gotta uninstall it for the health of my ears. But I cannot remember what it is or where it is.

Plzzzzzzzzzzz save my eardrums. How do I go about locating this chime?

If you remember the name of the program - try looking for a process, or a service, in the task manager.

You can close the process using task manager if you find one, as a one off, but would need to search for a trigger to fully remove

If it's a service then set it to disabled and reboot

It should be possible to find the actual startup entry using Autoruns which is by Microsoft and fully documented.

One other possible location to try in the Scheduled task manager as this may be used to provide timed activities such as the alarm you describe

Also have a look in Programs & Features under Control Panel. Scroll down & see if you recognise the name of that program, then uninstall it.
