Solved Win 7 Ult 64 genuine or not?

The Windows Loader isa generic form of Activation Exploit - Daz is one version of such a hack.
DO NOT install either - they are probably what got you into this mess in the first place.

Yup - you need to UNtick the box under the DOWNLOAD button on the left, then click on that button -
AVOID the button on the right - it's for a highly questionable wrapper which installs a downloader (which may be a Trojan)

Hi UNI, Thank you for the advice. A boot into Safe Mode with minimal services appeared to work and I am just waiting for the reboot after running the WATFix tool again.

Hi Noel, I can think of better things to do for fun but the amount of crapware is amazing. I still do not know how I ended up with it as I thought I followed your instructions properly the first time.

Thank you to all for the advice so far; it is appreciated. Some research on the web indicates that Win 7 pre-installs, particularly from anytime upgrades, and a downgrade from Win 8 are known potential causes for an invalid SLIC table and keying issues. Your thoughts would be appreciated ...

The MGADiag report isn't good - the BIOS SLIC table still shows as being invalid, which means that there is no point in attempting to install the OEM_SLP Key (which might just work if the SLIC table had been valid)

Please note -
downgrading from Windows 8 does NOT cause an invalid SLIC table - most of the instances you saw were caused by attempting to downgrade without the appropriate license to be able to do so.
Anytime Upgrades do NOT cause SLIC table problems - they have absolutely nothing to do with the SLIC table..

As far as your options are concerned, they are very limited because of the lack of a COA sticker. With a COA sticker, you could have input that Key and it would activate. Even if the sticker Key had been illegible, there's a chance that MS would have issued you a new Key providing they could see the sticker existed and was valid for the installed OS.

Had the SLIC table been OK, you may not have had the problem in the first place.

Unfortunately, neither manufacturers nor MS keep a record of which Key is attached to which computer - which leaves you with two options -

1) Purchase a new License for Windows - but you'll be lucky to find one for Win7 Ultimate now, and you'd probably have to settle for a reformat/reinstall with Windows 7 Pro OEM System Builder
2) see if Acer (or a reputable third party) will provide a set of Recovery media for your machine, then do a System Recovery using that - and to be honest, I doubt that will work.

The other potential options are:
a) check your machine's compatibility with Windows 10, and then purchase a copy of that.
b) buy a new machine.

Thanks for the advice. I do not believe that the OS was counterfeit and, as mentioned, these problems only seem to have arisen since I tried to upgrade to Win 8 with authentic disks and, after what seemed like a successful install, showing a Win 8 screen then rebooted and reverted to Win 7. I am less than happy that my subsequent attempts at cleaning and obtaining the latest Windows updates have now resulted in a de-activation of Windows for a laptop that has worked perfectly well, with minor non-MS software issues, for about 4 years.

ACER does not show the laptop listed by serial number but the SNID shows the correct model and shows the OS as Win 7 (with upgrade options to Win 8). This confirms to me that the installed OS was Win 7. I am wondering if a BIOS upgrade might help?

Hi all, thank you for your advice. I took a different tack:

Updated as many system drivers as I could using Driver Booster 2 and then installed Windows 8 Pro. I encountered a few issues, had to uninstall Windows additional languages, and the install took about 5 hours but I now have a fully functioning Win 8 Pro OS. It is activated and I am currently downloading and installing the <200 Windows Updates. I presume that this would not have been possible if the previous OS had not been genuine and guess that the previous attempt at installing Windows 8 and the reversion made changes and corrupted Win 7. I am hoping that, if all goes well, I will be able to upgrade to Windows 10. I will let you know if I encounter further issues.

Driver Booster is NOT a good idea - it tends to install drivers which are not totally appropriate for the machine. Many Manufacturers tweak their hardware a little - enough often to invalidate the type of drivers that such programs will try to install.

You should have been able to upgrade directly from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

Hi Noel, I was unable to upgrade to Win !0 directly because Win 7 would not install the downloaded update due to the loss of activation and not accepting the Win 7 product key. The previous attempt at upgrading to Win 8 resulted in a reversion and Win 7 'lost' the ability to read the upgrade CD. I downloaded many different recommended UDF readers without success. Driver Booster corrected that for some unknown reason. The Win 8 OS is stable, at least or the moment, though I am still downloading updates.

Hi All, had some issues with Windows 8 Updates as some would result in crashes. Using Windows Updates in automatic mode failed. I tried groups of 10, then 5 then individual updates but still had many failures. I had to use System Restore points before and individual update but some 'critical' would just fail on installation. I used WSUSOffline and that enabled the installation of some updates but would 'reverting changes' on many of the downloaded updates and one particular update would keep de-activating Windows. It took me some time to identify and manually install specific updates required to upgrade to Win 8.1 but am now downloading Windows 10 and it was offered as soon as I checked Windows Update after cleaning up the Win 8.1 install. I will report if any further issues arise. Thank you ...
