Solved win 7 -under windows edition under computer properties
I noticed a year old thread that wondered why they didn't find SP 1 under windows edition when they had installed windows sp1 update. Made me think why should update to the windows you have installed change what you have under Computer> Properties>Windows Edition?? Guess that's what did happen on my 'system' and that's what I don't understand regard to my other thread.Which was-
Computer Properties Windows Edition
The service pack that is installed, will display under Computer/Properties/Windows Edition.
That is normal since it is no longer the base edition once the service pack is installed.

I don't understand that. Because why then isn't it changed to show"new edition" based on last windows update? Isn't sp 1 just conbined updates back in feb 2011? Guess not that important, just that if things that are done are not consistent will leave results where things are not definitley saying anything .
Windows updates that are not Service Packs do not change the edition as far as Microsoft's is concerned.
Yes the service packs usually contain a rollup of previous updates but then form a new baseline from which to continue.
The edition would change from Windows 7 to Windows 7 Service Pack 1

ok guess I got it. But I do see you have windows 7 x64 bit SP 1. and under windows edition the x64 was dropped when it added SP 1 for my properties.
The x64 will show down under System/System Type:
It should say 64-bit operating system .
