Guys, I need your tips.

Yesterday I installed FSX and the Acceleration pack from CD's. Then I tried browsing folders for the SDK. Each time I clicked the SDK folder, explorer only came with that stupid green progress bar for a long time, without being able to read it.

I tried two other CD players, same problem. This only happens with MS CD's. I think it is pathetic.

I solved the SDK problem, by connecting the USB CD to a laptop with XP, cpoying the SDK to an USB stick, then moved it over to the Win7 PC, and finally was able to install the SDK.

So here the questions: What is it with Win7, MS CD's and CD players? Two of my CD players are older, OK I might thrash them. My latest is a Samsung external USB player, where I also updated the firmare...to no avail.

Do I need to buy myself a new SATA CD player (I use AHCI)?

Thx in advance.

You may buy a new CD player anytime, but before abandoning your existing players, first have a lenses cleaning . There may be some obstacles . Secondly, use any iso image making software to copy your cds in new disks. I use and recommend Imgburn.

If still you are unhappy with their performances , buy a new one.

Cleaning to no avail. Bought a new Sony "Win7 Approved" SATA DVD player. Same problem.

On two other XP computers, it just works, all the DVD players, with those MS CD's.

I have said before there is something wrong with Win7 and USB. There is also something they need to fix regarding DVD players, no matter if they are USB external or SATA internal.

Looks to me DVD reading stepped back with Win7. I had this confirmed by a vendor today. Good that I still have those XP computers!
