Hi there,
Ive run into a problem that I cant solve myself, although I have tried.... I have an Asus M4a78 Pro MB, 4gb ram, a 1tb Barracuda drive, 2.7ghz chip, Win7 home premiuim 32b.
On Sunday I was prompted to do a Win Update, which I did, everything DLed and installed smoothly, and then I was prompted to reboot, which I did. The booting process got stuck at "starting windows" without the windows icon. As it was stuck, I rebooted, same thing happened. I rebooted into safe mode, and it got stuck at classpnp.sys. I cannot access advanced boot options to try and repair windows, and when I boot from the win7 cd, it loads files and then goes to a black screen. As such, I cant get to a prompt to try and copy the classpnp.sys file, or the cdrom.sys file (which follows it in the boot process). I even tried DLing a win 7 repair CD, for the case that my CD is somehow screwed, same thing happens though.
I exchanged the hard drive with a new 1tb Barracuda, with the intention of reinstalling win7. Same thing happens here when I boot from cd: it loads windows files and goes to a black screen.*
Next up was trying to flash the bios. DLed the latest fw, burnt it to cd (on a diff computer), booted, accessed the asus flash utility, however it will only get files from the C drive, which I obviously cant get to to put the rom on....
The PC was fine before the win update, cd drive, hard drive and all peripherals were working as usual. Anyone have any clever ideas on how to sort this out?
Cheers, Adam
