Dear Friends,

I have tried installing and reinstalling Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64 based Systems (KB976932) (Size 13.6 MB)
and Windows Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64 based systems (Size 36.7 MB) several times using the automatic windows update. But everytime it failed to install these updates.

I have tried the fix it tool of windows, and installing update readiness tool (Windows6.1-KB947821-v28-x64) as suggested by Microsoft website and other forums, the tool was successfully installed, but the service pack is not yet installing. giving error code (0x800b0100). Which I understand is TRUST_E_NOSIGNATURE ( No signature was present in the subject. ) from microsoft website. But all my efforts are still useless. Please suggest me the solution for this update. I am posting my CheckSur.persist file content (copied from C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder) pertaining to my last update effort as below:

I've uploaded afile - vdyaa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
Please downloadand save it.

Right-click onthe downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to thedefault location - which will create a new folder vdyaain the same place.

Open this folder- there should be one folder inside it (Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to thefolder

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Nowrun the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Postthe new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

There's still some outstanding errors there - I'll post a fix protocol when I
get a chance, later.

Please do NOT attempt to install IE10 until I give you the all-clear - it
could confuse the issue further.

DUH! - more caffeine required!
I was reading the earlier report! :(

The latest scan shows as everything being fixed now :)

Go ahead with IE10 if you want it
(Sorry about that!)

Hard disk partition lost after installing windows update

Sir,
One of my hard drive partition is lost after installing updates (important and recommended). I don't know what happened actually. But when I noticed the D partition was not there. It has lot of data, so how to get my data back. The partition was visible in disk management with free space without any letter assigned. I assigned it again D letter without formatting it. Now it is visible in my computers also, but no data is accessible through it. How to get my data back.

Please help, it is very important data.

Vinit

I would suggest perhaps something like Recuva - Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download - may help.
However, unless this is something very strange, it has nothing whatever to do with Windows Updates.

It sounds as if your MBR has been over-written - which could indicate malware activity.

Your first priority has obviously to be to recover your data - preferably to external media - and then you can worry about the OS.

I'll flag your problem to others who hopefully will have some ideas.

Thanks Noel,
Thanks, Britton30

I will try to get the data first may be hiring some professional. Would you suggest a complete format of the system and reinstalling windows after data recovery. Also, do you have any idea how to save active license of Kaspersky Internet Security or any other installed software for re-installation at a later stage after windows formatting and installation. (please pardon me if I have posted this question to a wrong forum).

Vinit

Once you do a fresh install all license activations will be lost so you should be able to reuse them for a reinstall. Try the PW recovery first, it won't hurt the partition and it's free. A recovery company is horribly expensive, such as $4000USD for a simple job.

Yes I would recommend a fresh install to a clean disk, you can choose it during install, Full Format.

You can use Belarc Advisor to retrieve many of your license codes - check them before reformatting - www.belarc.com
