Win7codecs

Wow Win7codec is the best codec pack that you can find but...
I installed the x86 and x64 pack on my Windows 7 and enabled WMP 12 x64 as default.
While playing .avi files with a .sub subtitle file a i din't have subtitles.
I spent abt an hour reinstalling the codec pack, manually disabling
Windows Media Foundation,...

And after an hour i re-entered the Setup config x64 and found that subtitles are disabled, enabled them (via DirectVobSub) and they worked!

Question 2 Shark007: Why aren't the subtitles enabled in the default settings in the x64 components (and they are enabled in the x86)?

Why aren't the subtitles enabled in the default settings in the x64 components (and they are enabled in the x86)?

1st of all a fact that should be acknowledged is that I personally came up with the only viable x64 version of Gabests VSFilter.dll (aka DirectVobSub) because every other version out there was/is causing HUGE problems for all windows users. The code used to compile this version is over 3yrs old because current code cannot be compiled to x64.

Based on the feedback I have received from users of my x64 release I came to the conclusion that disabling it by default was the right thing to do. You, as a user, are empowered to make your own decision of leaving it on but the majority users find that CPU usage becomes unbearable if you leave it enabled 24/7. I suggest only enabling it as needed.

They are enabled by default on 32bit installations. If you have an x64 system, open the x64 settings application, click on the Config TAB, and poke DirectVobSub in the upper right.

It's strange that WMP provides ultrasmooth playback on high bitrate .ts files(mpeg2) via the DTV DXVA codec, but when I play the same file via MPC-HC, which uses that same DTV DXVA codec, it's really choppy, CPU usage is not high at all..

Strange...

The fact that you are experiencing issues with an experimental player is not strange, it is expected.
Please try a version MPC-HC from Shark007.net - Tools for Windows 7 codecs and see if you have the same results.

Shark, is there a page you can link to that shows the "proper" configuration of your codecs for Win7 x64 installations? Or, is that something currently being worked on? I am one of the few with the inexplicable grainy/poor video problems with my Win7 x64 and NVIDIA 8600GTS, so I'm just trying to find the best configuration I can until this issue (ever) gets resolved.

I've heard Win7 comes with a new rendering system (EVR) which I guess could be causing this but have no clue how to get around that if that's even the whole issue.

There is no such thing as a proper configuration that will meet everyone's needs.

What works for this person, doesnt for that person. My codec releases EMPOWER you to find your own playback niche setup that works for you and also allows you to save that configuration once you figure it out. (Save/Restore settings on the MISC TAB)

You should NOT be having grainy/poor playback.

Often this is the result of a default installation and no exploration of the available settings on the part of the user. I have gone to great lengths to assist users along thier journey of self discovery. A feature you should get familiar with is called Reset All. Explore the possibilities the configuration TABS offer and when you get in to deep, use Reset All. This feature sets all configuration settings back to installation defaults. Keep track of what worked and what didnt.

My releases will solve your issue(s) but on that note, there is no one configuration that will work for everyone. Also, I have not implemented known 'good' settings purposely because research told me that I should NOT touch the system settings by default.

I can suggest to you, open the x64 Settings Application, select FFDshow on the righthand side of the H264 TAB and also go to the SWAP TAB and select FFDshow for everything there except WVC1 and MPEG2. These suggestions will probably correct any poor playback you are currently experiencing.

A couple of handy suggestions:
M2TS files that play without audio, on the SWAP TAB, choose to disable Windows Media Foundation.
And one more for x64 users. Playback of Standalone FLAC audio files in x64 MC. On the Config TAB of the x64 Application, choose to toggle the WMP to x64 and back to 32bit will permanenly enable x64 MC to play standalone FLAC audio.

Is see that your codec pack will automatically remove AC3Filter, Haali splitter and ffdshow, does it install these back(newer versions?)? Because these filters are essential to me.

It removes these with good reason.

To avoid conflicts because it does install each of them itself and the Settings Interface needs them to be installed by the package to be able to control them. The interface is self aware and is designed so that if for example, a user chooses to disable AC3Filter, it needs to enable FFDshow to take up the slack for the formats previously handled by that filter. Such settings adjustments are prevelent throughout the settings application.

No. Leave the 32bit WMP set as default, but do toggle to x64 player as enabled and then set it back to 32bit because this action will setup standalone flac audio in Media Center. 32bit codecs are your best option right now but Media Center is x64 only on your system so I made those suggestions to get you started in the right direction.

Thanks for the clarification.

As an aside, should this video rendering problem affect when I view pictures as well? It seems to when I zoom in on some pictures, it is pixelated like the videos are rather than smoothed edges like it should be.

There is no corelation between video viewing and picture viewing as far as codecs are concerned.
You're asking something that is beyond the scope of my product.

I download the movie "Night At The Museum Battle Of The Smithsonian 2009 BDRip H264 AAC-SecretMyth (Kingdom-Release)" and the subtitles not loaded. I think it´s because the H264 codec. What o have to do on the configs to fix it??? The file type is MP4. The others movies AVI, the subtitles are good.

I have some questions...

My system is Windows 7 Ultimate x64, I am only using the default 32-bit player of WMP and MCE. Still, do I need to install your x64 codecs? My main problem is subtitle is not working in WMP nor MCE that's why I downloaded MPC-Home Cinema from your tools and the subtitle (.srt) works. What I want to know is, what are work-around so that subtitles (.srt) will work in WMP and MCE? By the way, I am using CoreAVC as my default H.264 codecs.

Thanks. Keep up the good work.

*Problem already solved (http://shark007.net/forum)

Looking forward for the CoreAVC v.2.0 x64 released so that we can fully enjoy/utilize the benefit of 64-bit computing. Thanks.

I'm also using Sharks packs with CoreAVC Pro codec for processing H.264 video (with MPC-HC as the player). Most of the stuff I watch these days is H264 MP4s. Once you get used to good HD rips on a good monitor, it's very hard to go back and watch regular AVI's.

I'm also looking forward to the impending release of CoreAVC v.2.0. That's the only thing that's holding me back from using the x64 version of MPC-HC.
