Win7codecs

Media Library issues.

Many Windows 7 users are having problems with the Media Library.
Things like showing files twice or showing files that were deleted.

To help my users deal with these issue I have incorperated a button that will fix those issues by rebuilding the entire audio / video library. Have a look on the Misc TAB as depicted in the screenshot below.

Just wondering what determines if ffdshow audio settings has pass-through settings for HD audio ? Installed 2.3.2 on two machines and one has settings for HD audio.

Selecting to use CoreAVC with FFDshow postprocessing would remove the hd audio settings. This is a current bug with ffdshow that I cannot control. If you deselect the postprocessing option it would return the hd audio settings to the interface.

ok, disabled postprocessing option and got the HD options back.

suggested deviations from a default installation for x86...

Help TAB, associate filetypes
SWAP TAB, Disable the DMO video codecs
SWAP TAB, choose ffdshow for xvid etc.
SWAP TAB, disable the Microsoft Audio decoder (unless you use LiveTV, then leave it alone)
H264 TAB, select the divx codec
Audio TAB, match your hardware
Config TAB, lower boxes, match your hardware

When I selected the "Use Divx Codec" on the right hand side of the H264 tab, it toggled the selections to "Do not use FFDShow" under the 'Use FFDShow's codec' area and to "Do not use MPC-HC codec (default)" under the 'Use MPC-HC DXVA codec' area. Is this supposed to happen?

yep. as designed. your system only requires one active H264 decoder.

are you having a problem?

I haven't tried out all of my media formats yet, but I just wanted to make sure I was properly following your instruction before I began my testing.

As always, very much appreciated and I'll come to your forums if I have any further problems.

For the next release (version 233) I am adding a new checkbox for,

"Shark007 SUGGESTED settings"

It will be positioned on the bottom, between the Reset button and the transparency selector
so it will be visible from all TABS.

frontpage.jpg

For those using version 2.3.2 you can acquire this new application in my Application Development Thread. The only portion of the new app that will be inconsistant is the reset all feature being unable to properly select the new features because it wasnt distributed with a full release. Upon 1st use, newly added checkboxes will be checked (falsely). Just uncheck them. Again, this is only because the application was not distributed with a full release.

Why aren't they on default if they are "SUGGESTED"?

One of the primary reasons people like my releases is that almost nothing is changed on your system by installing my codecs. I do however, empower the user to improve thier playback ability by presenting them with options they never had before.

Some users who have absolutely no knowledge of codecs and thier use require, suggestions.

i may have to check that out.

here's an issue i'm trying to solve without installing the evil quicktime, i need to be able to play the Macromedia Projector/Quicktime files for specific tutorial videos. i want to do this without qt or converting (which may not come out properly). i've tried several configurations and players but no dice. i get the audio but not the video.

shark007 codec 2.3.2 installed (x86/x64 add on)

any suggestions would be appreciated

1st of all, install current releases. as of today, x86 =235, and x64 =239 Please know: Uninstall can only be performed using the providec button on the help tab.

To play your video's properly, on the MOV~OGG TAB, set MOV for camera Vids.
If that doesnt work, try the Haali splitter, but i am pretty sure the camera setting will do it.

I do not have a solution for x64 MediaCenter, but then, neither does apple.com
You will need to play the mov's in a 32bit player.
The default WMP is 32bit.

thanks for the heads up on the update.

it worked for some similar type of macro projector/mov files but not this particular one. it may be another issue. i'll try it in xp and see if it will play there with qt installed.

bloody hate these type of dvds, they can't play on a regular dvd, where they would actually have more benefit for the buyer if it's a tutorial dvd so they can actually have the program the dvd is about open and use the included files at the same time (in this case for a daw)

I know many of you like to know, whats next? well, by request, (I do take requests)
The screenshot below will give you a better idea of whats coming.

If you were to check the box for 'Media Center', and then subsequently placed the produced playlist file into the startup folder, you could have a video, or series of video's in the order you have chosen, playing on boot up in MC. The default open option is to use WMP.

EDITTED: to update the screenshot

ok, the last What's next wasnt all that exciting, so here's the next thing i'm working on...

You will be able to safely, and easily, using a singleclick,
replace the default LiveTV decoder with the PowerDVD 9 decoder.

On an x64 system, Media Center is an x64 player, and requires x64 codecs.
PowerDVD is 32bit only, therefore its codec is only useful for a 32bit player.
