Solved WinDirStat or SequoiaView

Hello all.
The other day I was jumping thru the Forum and I stumbled across a topic in which
a couple of programs had been mentioned. WinDirStat and SequoiaView. I have -
- looked & looked, used the forum search agian & agian and can't find the thread.

I do have but simple questions about these two programs, as i can't find the thread,
Let me ask about them here. If any be familiar with either of these programs, please
share your exsperiance about them and also mention any similar such programs.

Do they work good with Vista & windows7 - Would you recommend to use such programs?
Which of the two do you like the best or use the most of and why?

Once agian that was, - WinDirStat or SequoiaView. Thank you.

WinDirStat is a disk usage statistics viewer and cleanup tool for Microsoft Windows (all current variants). WinDirStat reads the whole directory tree once and then presents it in three useful views: the directory list, which resembles the tree view of the Windows Explorer but is sorted by file/subtree size; the treemap, which shows the whole contents of the directory tree straight away; and the extension list, which serves as a legend and shows statistics about the file types.

SequoiaView is a disk browsing tool based on the principle of treemaps, with one unique feature added, namely Cushion Treemaps, invented by Jack van Wijk. The principle is simple: each time a rectangle is subdivided, ridges are added. The result is a pattern of hierarchical cushions that show the structure in the directories and files. The user can set the height of the ridges as well as using lower ridges for deeper nested levels, offering a choice between displaying global information (high level directories) or detailed info such as individual files. The user can also choose between the original cushions and the squarified cushions.

I found the two programs and the download pages. I went for the WinDirStat.
I'm having trouble opening the setup.exe file. I get this error/warning message.

- A referral was returned from the server. -

Suspecting a corrupt download, I downloaded a second file. Same thing.
With that, I rule out an i.e. problem, I downloaded with Firefox. same error message.
After trying to open the setup.exe file three times, I thought, - What?

I have never seen this message ever. What do ya suppose this means? Please help.

Note, I attempted this late yesterday, I tried again once today. (4 times in all).

Try running the installer with compatibility of vista rtm and run it as admin.

I realise this post is a bit old, but if anyone is still looking for Sequioaview or Windirstat, I have a free alternative called FileTreeView. It's based on the ideas that Sequioaview present but overcomes one major hurdle that I always found; if you wanted to review (say) a path at c:\folder1\nextfolder\finalfolder, Sequioaview always trawls the entire disk.
Please feel free to download FileTreeView, which works on XP, Vista and Win7, 32bit and 64bit from FileTreeView – a SequioaView-like Application « Scott's code and other ponderings…

Can someone help me with the WinDirStat problem... Every time I run a scan of my Hard drive it stops on 50% and shows it as if it has finished all 100%. I had some sudden memory loss on my laptop (all of a sudden a lot of my free disc space disappeared) and I found this software on this forum saying it could identify every bit of memory on your hard drive. Any ideas how to fix this?

I've tried both on my WIn7-64 system and I find I like this one better than either of those:

SpaceSniffer, find lost disk space the easy way.

I've tried all 3 of them: on TreeSize Free my laptop froze, and other 2: WinDirStat & SpaceSniffer both can't see 50% of my memory (about 150gb) But on SpaceSniffer it had an option to show the un scaned part and it shows this 150gb part, but I couldn't scan it.
