hi, when i click on my computer and bring up my drives, i hover over C drive and click properties and its shows 92gb used, when i go into C drive and highlight all folders it only equals 32GB, where has 60gb gone? this was a windows 7 pc with a windows 10 upgrade.

also all games are installed on another drive and my C drive is purely windows only.

thanks

The default Windows settings don't show hidden files or operating system files, that might be why you don't see everything.
Try WizTree and see if it shows all the folders and files.
They have a Portable zip available, no install needed.
Just unzip, run it, and scan the drive. pagefile.sys is HDD space used as RAM when you max out your RAM (aka swap space). It is typically 2X RAM. Since you have 16GB, this will prob never happen, so you can manually set the swap size lower if it bothers you.

hiberfil.sys is the space allocated for when you hibernate the system, as opposed to just shutting down. If you never use this feature, you can disable hibernate (and reclaim the HDD space used) by opening an elevated cmd window and typing

powercfg -h off

sorry i have just updated my system specs as they are not correct, i have 32gb of ram and a different GPU and now on windows 10 not 7, the only thing that i know that will use this ram is X plane 10 and that is the reason for me going from 16gb to 32gb, so i do now have 4x 8gb of ram not 16gb.

I don't have X plane 10, so i can't comment on if it really needs/uses a 32 GB pagefile.
I would manually set the pagefile to 1 GB minimum, and maximum to 32 GB.
Reboot to make this change.
Run X plane 10 and see if the pagefile increased from the 1 GB minimum.

It may cause an error when you run X plane 10 with the minimum, but then you'll know that it needs the large pagefile.

If it is a problem, you could also test moving the pagefile to a different partition than the drive.

Hi,
You might ask here
Windows 10 Forums

Last I noticed in win-10 the page file is really small compared with win-7
I have 16gb's of ram the page file was less than 3gb's unless you manually set it to 32 ?

I have 32 GB of RAM and I set my page file to 800MB on the C: drive (to allow for Memory dumps) and let Windows manage an additional page file on another drive F:.

On F, it is only ~ 2400MB when managed by Windows.
