Windows 10 Upgrade, Can't disable

Hi all im running a 64 bit version of windows 7 ultimate which by choice I want to keep running as long as possible im not interested in upgrading to windows 10 and getting rid of 7, at some point I will get ten but it will never be at the detriment of 7, but isn't this my choice ????

So I've hidden the KB3035583 file so it doesn't re-download, and I've told the taskbar thing not to show, and I even deleted the hidden $Windows-BT file I never wanted to be downloaded, and I've put windows update NOT TO UPDATE automatically, which I got a red flag in the taskbar telling me I've done that and should change it fast!!?

but all that said next time I go to windows update the KB3035583 file is back in the download list, and windows 10 is back in optional downloads and its pre ticked ????

So I've re-hidden the KB file and it seems to have gone, but on trying to hide the windows 10 file, it doesn't go, but if u click it again it asks u to restore it, but if u then close and reopen windows update windows 10 is back in the list and its pre ticked again ready to download ???

this wouldn't be so bad if all I had to remember is to uncheck windows 10 when I manually update, updates but a new problem has arisen im not sure if has any thing to do with windows 10 or is something ells but seems a bit coincidental? maybe im wrong, but now I cant download normal updates I keep getting error code 80070002

Which version of Windows 7 are running? If you have the Group Policy Editor available, just use the setting to prevent OS upgrades. Works like a charm. Otherwise, you'll have to battle with updates manually.

where would I find what version? as far as I know win 7 ultimate 64 bit ...... a quick search on Google says I have this never used will have to look it up

but still as far as I know, this wont help me with the 80070002 error code though ?, but again thanks

hi brink/unifex I followed tutorial to enable Local group policy and it seems to have done the trick as far as windows 10 concerned its no longer offered at windows update, still getting the error code 80070002 though turned automatic updating back on see if that works ?

If turning on automatic updating doesn't help with the error, then you might see if using OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to completely reset Windows Update may.

tried this before didn't work .... but tried again still not work, windows update did say it would install updates next time I restart but never does below pictures is what windows is trying to update in case it matters

When you have that many updates, I find that it's best to only install the ones selected by default first, then repeat until you have to manually select updates to install.

I've tried doing one at a time still get the error ??? ........ although when I restart windows tries to install 18 updates but then just restarts

I checked for malware with malwarebytes free, I also checked with Kaspersky my installed antivirus .... plus I've tried a few scans before windows starts with various programs all found nothing (ie avg,malwarebytes, Kaspersky)
