Windows 7 and Live Mail problems

Ever since I installed Windows 7, I've been experiencing interminable problems with Live Mail. Sometimes, it doesn't load at all, sometimes a simple action like opening a folder provokes a "not responding" status, which even Task Manager can't seem to terminate. Worse, that then locks the computer and prevents a shut down........."Shutting Down" remains permanently, after which I have to switch off manually, which probably makes the problem worse.

I've reinstalled Windows 7 several times, reinstalled Live Mail, repaired Live Mail etc. Nothing seems to work.

Any thoughts on how to trouble shoot the problem would be much appreciated.

Since you already reinstalled, you need to try more drastic actions. First make a sytem restore point, right now. Now research for another good mail application. I personally suggest Thunderbird, but there are many others. Give the new mail service a try. It will probalby work better and you will be satisfied. If that does not solve your problem. You can make Windows Live mail, your default service again and you lost nothing. If you prefer you can uninstall Thunderbird or use the system restore point that you created to return to present day.

Do you have 'nested' mail storage boxes by any chance? By which I mean in WLM, you can only have a storage tree two mailboxes deep - say 'Storage Folders' and then 'Inbox 2007'. If you have further sub folders after 'Inbox 2007' then all sorts of weird and strange things happen. I experienced this when importing my old Outlook express folders which were nested to 3 or 4 places on the tree - WLM just couldn't cope with that layout - which is wierd since is supposed to be all new and the greatest latest etc

That's interesting. Yes, I do have some nested folders. I'll try getting rid of them and see what happens. Thanks for the tip.

Windows Live Mail problem

When I start Windows Live Mail, a User Account Control window appears. If I click yes, the program opens.

Type windows live mail in search. Right click>properties, then go to security. Make sure that you have all the necessary permissions.

Go to advanced settings make sure that you have full control.
