Windows 7 Bad Block on Disk

Hello Guys, For the past two days now my pc has been freezing but i know much about computers but i sea that when it freeze the hard drive light turns off. So i new that no data was moving

Hello TheReid,

The error in your Event Viewer indicates that HDD has a bad block/sector on the HDD. You can run chkdsk (Chesk Disk) on the HDD using step 8 in OPTION ONE of the tutorial below to see if it may be able to help.

Don't use the Windows version. Is not always right. Try Ariolic Disk Scanner. I've used it on drive that Windows said had bad blocks and when I did a scan with this program it didn't detect any. I've used this program on about 50 hard drives that windows said they had bad blocks and the hard drives still work.

Well i did the disk check like Brink said but i got the same result like when i used cmd-CHKDSK or CHKDSK /f.
So plan (B). Ariolic Disk Scanner.

Still no luke guys!!!. I'm now thinking of formating over my system but maybe tomorrow.

One thing i didn't mansion before is that my hard has two partitions on it but it's the C partition windows was always install on. The D partition however is fine. So i format the C partition but now having problems with and the bad blocks or still their?, So i'm thinking my hard drive on one side is damage.

As you have already tried everything that has been proposed and suggested.

I recommend going to grc.com and checking out Spinrite. It is not cheap but I was able to recover
a similar hard disk problem to yours.

Steve Gibson who runs GRC.com is a well respected programmer and speaker. I recommend
that you give it a shot if you have the cash.

I don't have any financial interest in grc or it's products, just love them.

Nothing works meby it's because i always use that side of the hard drive all the time, and now it's going bad - by the way it's a Western Digital WD4000AAKS-00YGA0

You might also download the Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS (CD) ISO file from the Western Digital link below, create a bootable USB/DVD with the ISO file, then boot from the USB/DVD to test your HDD to see if it may be failing.

If a bad block has developed on the hard disk then the time has come to think about its replacement. How old is this disk with the bad block?
