Hello GazWolves, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You'll need to use the product key number on the COA sticker of your HP computer to activate with instead.
146194d1301379745-product-key-number-windows-7-find-see-oem-1.jpg

You can use the tutorial below to change the key number to the COA one.
Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

Hi GazWolves,

It sounds like you are using an Enterprise copy of Windows!! Which is not Retail or OEM...and not available to home users.
Can i ask where you obtained your windows copy from...was it college/school or employer/company?
If you did not obtain it from any of those then im afraid the most likely explanation is as a volume license it is likely to be counterfeit.

Hope this help?

Cheers

Dave

Hi,

This is a solution you may try posted by Noel Paton on this forum (that I cant take credit for) and may sort out your problem, if you have the original product key:

Recreate the Licensing Store
1) Click Start button.
2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
4) Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
8) Type: net start sppsvc
9) Type: slui.exe
10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.

Give it a try and let me know,

Fingers crossed

Cheers

Dave

Hi,

I think that maybe your product key is a standard one (default) used just for the build, as i have found another similar post and his product key is exactly the same as yours, as is the product key hash, as is product ID, with exactly the same problem:

Validation Code: 50
Cached Online Validation Code: N/A, hr = 0x80070005
Windows Product Key: *****-*****-73CQT-WMF7J-3Q6C9
Windows Product Key Hash: KaFG+RmurcM3ZxzWyfEP9WtPUJw=
Windows Product ID: 00359-OEM-8992687-00010
Found at:
Windows won't activate

Therefore i believe you are entering an incorrect product key (the default key)or one that is blocked.
You could try the fixes proposed on that thread. Or you could contact Microsoft direct.

Hope this helps, let me know any outcome so i can close the post or help further.

Cheers

Dave

Please can I ask for everyone however well-meaning, to butt out of the thread, except for the OP??

The error message in the original post is one which tends to indicate multiple problems - and without a certain amount of peace, things are going to get worse, rather than better (and there's a distinct possibility that the only solution will be a reinstall as it is!)

Gaz
Please post a new MGADiag report.
Please alos follow the instructions in http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...4840-windows-update-posting-instructions.html and post the data from that.

With a little luck, this will give us enough to work with to identify the problem, and start to find a solution.

Noel i know you are obviously well qualified in this field :geek:, but just answer me this...how on earth did you ever get to where you are if the guy who is better qualified than you kept telling you to butt out....as your aware by helping others you learn yourself? I dont think i offered any bad advice...did i?

Im now very interested in the solution, which will help me help others, but I think the solution was what i said originally...that its an Enterprise copy and maybe not a Genuine copy or the guy is trying to use the default product key to activate. My next step was to advise a re-install because his product key, product hash and product ID is used in 3 other posts on the internet by 3 different posters, hence my thinking is not genuine or default key. Thats my theory and im entitled to it.....if im wrong then great......I will learn and be better.

So am i allowed to help on this forum or not?

Sorry...i will now "Butt-out" and hopefully you can find a solution.

Hi Dave,

Although I can't answer the questions directed at Noel, I can try and clear some other things up. Looking at a few things in the MGADiag log:

Windows Product Key: *****-*****-73CQT-WMF7J-3Q6C9

This is an HP OEM product key, not the default key. I'm not entirely sure where you're theory about the default key comes from, but it isn't the case :)

Windows Product Key Hash: KaFG+RmurcM3ZxzWyfEP9WtPUJw=

You'll see this in other threads because OEM keys are the same on many computers of the same manufacturer, the unique part is stored on your computer in the form of a SLIC table (one of the BIOS ACPI tables)

Windows Product ID: 00359-OEM-8992687-00010

The first 5 characters of this are language dependent, but any PID of the form XXXXX-OEM-8992687-00010 is for Windows 7 Home Premium on HP computers.

Windows License Type: OEM SLP

You won't see Enterprise versions of Windows with OEM SLP activation :)

Product Name: Windows 7 Home Premium

Doesn't look like enterprise to me!

Office Status: 109 N/A

This error simply means that an unsupported version of Office is installed on the computer, where MGADiag can't clarify the activation state of the product. MGADiag doesn't support 2010 or 2013, it only supports up to 2007.

Here lies the error :) As you've probably worked out, MGADiag logs are Noel's forte and he probably knows more about MGADiag logs than the rest of the SF members put together! If you look at Noel's previous threads with these sort of errors, you'll see the complexity of the problem and hopefully you'll understand why it's best if only one helper is around for this. I do see your point about never learning if you can't practise though, so I urge you to read through Noel's MGADiag tutorials (I'll come to them later) then, when you're at an acceptable standard (only you can be the judge of this), then start helping out. That's just my opinion though, I'm not here to boss you around or anything, I just want to teach you a few things and hopefully point you in the right direction.

HP SLIC table.

So in conclusion, we have a HP computer, with a HP OEM product key (for Home Premium), with a HP SLIC table that was activated well after the Windows 7 release date. The chances are, it's legit :) But one thing's for sure, it's definitely not a default key or an Enterprise version of Windows 7.

Hope this explains a few things for you.

I don't know if you have access to the VIP forum yet? If you do, read through Noel's tutorials on MGADiag and you'll be up and running in no time:

http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-genuine/

You might not have enough posts to view that forum though, so stick around and reap the rewards! Perhaps someone could clarify the entry requirements for the VIP forum for me please?

Tom

Hey,
Thanks Tom for that...it did explain a lot.....and made sense....like i said if im wrong then thats good....I meant no disrespect to Noel as i see he knows his stuff after reading his posts....very impressive stuff....thats why hes a guru and im not :)....he may just well have a laugh over this and gain a Padawan ;) or he may kick my butt.

I was obviously incorrect and will leave these problems to the experts :o like yourself and Noel until such time as im Qualified to fix such problems, good news for Gaz tho.

So Sorry Noel.....go easy on me...huh? Im on that learning eager curve...feel free to give me the hairy side of your hand ;)

Thanks again Tom...Peace

No problem - it's just that like I said, this particular problem is one that haunts my nightmares, as sometimes it's simple to fix, and sometimes I never manage to get to the cause, and end up having to recommend a repair (or even clean) install.

I welcome assistance, as a rule - the more people who can read these reports, the better - but it is important to have a grounding first, before making statements that are at best misleading :)
I suggest that you read the Windows Genuine subforum posts in the VIP forum if/when you have access - they will give some of the background.
Unfortunately, there are no official guides to reading the reports - what I know I've learned the hard way from reading over 25000 reports, and playing with my machines to try and repro some of the problems is see.
