My computer has been acting a little weird lately. Recently i've downloaded some .mkv files and now i can't rename or delete or move them. I tried using command prompt and unlocker and it's still not working. It says "action can't be completed because it is being opened by other programme", i don't get this as i close all programmes and it still says the same thing.

My main purpose is to actually move them into another folder. Please help me. It's only these few days that my computer is acting like this. I can move/delete/rename other avi or mp4 files.

Uninstall all codec installations and reboot. Now the MKV can be dealt with by Explorer. If you choose to install codecs written specifically for Windows 7, your mkv files will not lock up like that. For codecs properly configured for Windows 7, HERE is the main installer and if your operating system is 64bit, HERE is the 64bit addon.

Okay I will try your method. But I actually found a solution through the internet. I uninstalled DIVX setup and i can delete, rename and move my mkv files but i need DIVX codes to actually hardsub some videos too. Does the code link you gave me do both?

I'm using MPC codec pack and divx codecs, and so far i have no problem at all with this mkv files problem. Can i know why is this happening now as well? thanks and sorry for the trouble.

It is caused by the thumbnailing aspect of the DivX software. Remove it.
Also remove MPC and get the one on THIS PAGE
The suggested codecs will handle playback of all of your files properly.

you can use any player.
If choosing MPC I would suggest using the one I linked to above because that one is pre-configured to use the installed codecs instead of the internal decoders of the player.
