The guys over at Crunchgear came up with eighteen new screenshots of Windows 7 which later turned out to be concept renderings instead of screenshots of the latest Windows 7 build. This was pointed out by a Microsoft representative after posting those images on the website. Several of the features shown on the screenshots however resemble those that we have seen from Windows 7 Milestone 1 screenshots and videos and it is very likely that they will make their way into the final product.

Not sure if this is the oldest thread on the 7 board, but I'm guessing it's close.

The story from dmex's link is almost exactly a year old - it's funny reading lots of comments about how 7 is going to suck. (Maybe it would have if they left it as it was in May 2008.)

One year has gone by pretty fast.

I remember that wheel thing, a type of launcher / dashboard. I wish they would have included that in 7. That could have been one of the coolest UI additions. Granted they have something similar by letting you pin programs to the taskbar, but the wheel is just cooler. :P

Also what's up with the graphs and bars in the taskbar? That looks cool!

I agree, Swarfega, about the bottom one. The way they have the folder contents almost seem 3D when they're just giving it a circle / rotational thing. That's neat.

I thought the circle dock would stay up all the time. Reading its webpage, you have to click to activate it. This just adds another click to launching programs. And it's still in alpha. Maybe in a few months I'll check it out again.

Thank you though for the link, RST101.

You can modify the settings to keep it visible all the time.

One problem though is it doesn't install (which is not a huge problem), but since it doesn't install, the dll's and such don't get registered...so if you drop it into the startup folder, it crashes.

What's all this bull**** again?!

I mean, during Windows Vista's beta cycle it was exactly the same: concept art pics showing up with awesome and totally new ideas...

But at the end NONE of these major UI revisions were implemented:
- XP to Vista: nicer taskbar yeay <=> nothing that seems like this stuff
- Vista to 7: again, nicer taskbar yeay <=> taskbar didn't just receive a small update but still nothing major of the concept arts has been implemented...

So what's the purpose of this pics?! Every experienced photoshopper can come up with such ideas... Or am I wrong and has this things you see here actually been implemented in an internal build?
