Windows 7 driver solution

I'm using nVidia and it just upgraded. So I'm at a loss here. I tried get into the downloads on another computer and it went right in. I come back to my computer and nothing. That damn download page just refuses to load.

If you attempted to copy and then paste the link on the other system that won't work. You first have to go through the home page onto the downloads section and then choosing the type of download whether chipset or graphics to move on through the rest of the selection process.

From that point you can bookmark the page on that system. See if you can start off here at the selection page and go from there. Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

i have downloaded this program to a cd and installed application. given the state my notebook was in, i am wondering if the install is supposed to initially say Indexing Drivers and with a clock saying how long its taken...25 minutes? Is this normail. My labtop has nothing on it.

If you can't load driver vista for windows 7, you can use DriverMax (Free, search by google) to backup driver from Windows Vista (Network, printer,Sound or Graphics cards...).Then set up windows 7 and restore driver.All is OK.

Using DriverMax
1, Download DriverMax - FREE driver download program for Windows XP & Vista .
2, Export Driver (best way is export all driver to "X" folder of D:\ or E:\ (not OS installation disk)
3, Install Windows 7
4, Import Driver from "X".
5, Wait and OK.

Anybody got any solutions for getting Win7 RC to recognize a Linksys Wireless NiC WMP54G v4.0?
There's not even an Unknown device to look for it just plain doesn't see it.
Yet XP sees it fine and Win7 Beta saw it and hooked everything up wonderfully.
I'm now at a loss as I miss the fluidity of gaming, internet, and applications that Win7 brought to the table.

That falls into the catagory of "network adapter" when you look in the device manager. You'll likely see an item or two under "other devices" yellow marked there.

hey guys, i'm a little confused over the 32bit/64bit driver side of things
my laptop is in need of a reinstall and its specs are good enough to run win 7 x64 - however on the acer website for my laptop they only have x86 drivers - will these work on x64 os with 'normal speed' or just not work at all

afaik 32bit software/drivers/ etc do install and work on 64bit systems however they do not make ful use of what 64bit os' have to offer

there's also some apps i need for my laptop from the acer website but these are for x86 only too - i really want to go ahead and switch but don't want driver problems :-/

It's touchy! For certain things the 32bit drivers actually work well on the 64bit RC. But that may be simply from being a 3rd addon device seeing 32bit emulation playing a role. Video and sound drivers even input devices like optical mice still require the 64bit drivers as a general rule.

:/ so i guess i won't be able to install the 64bit win7rc on my laptop - it's got the intel gm45 gfx card and i've read around how that is a bit fishy on drivers too - don't think it'd be worth the gamble. so in most cases you can only install 64bit drivers for a 64bit os?
32bit won't install/work? - or is it a bit of both..in which case i'm screwed because i won't know what'll work until i try it haha

If there are Vista 64bit drivers available you shouldn't have any large problem. But it also depends you are planning to replace or dual boot with an existing installation. If you have the drive space and are already running the 32bit RC then you could try the 64bit on a second primary to see how far you were able to go.

That would be a quick temp install if things didn't work out. Even the 32bit RCs are temporary to start with until 7 is out.

i'm planning on replacing my os on the laptop completely (vista) - and i can't seem to find any vista 64bit drivers. intel have a driver update utility where it scans your pc for the gfx card and gives you a download link - maybe that will work (and give me links to x86 and x64 it should be ok). main thing i need are the gfx drivers - i think audio is available (realtek hd audio driver)
you'd think by now x64 bit drivers where widely available

//edit - oh intel do have 64bit drivers , i can only find the drivers though - i need the program to calibrate and stuff too

I ran into that problem on the 64bit RC where the application wouldn't see the volume panel icon placed in the system tray as you would on the 32bit for the Creative sound card used here. I ended up pinning that to the taskbar from the Start menu.

my wireless card (built into laptop) is manufactured by Atheros - whose website is completely useless - it says to get the required drivers from the laptop guys - but acer website have only 32bit :-/ - there's some czech website w/64 bit drivers for my wireless card but it seems to be down

The builtin wireless generally works off of the environment once you have an account with a satelite ISP. Then everything reflects signals making the environment the antennae. Addon devices along with onboard device controllers are the things that have the need for drivers.

No modem drivers needed here where the 64bit RC already had the nic card drivers installed. Generally the odd drivers are located through the MS update site where you look at the optional hardware/software drivers for anything missing.

i managed to find x64 drivers for my wireless card anyway - i think i'm set now
i might install it in a few days - one thing i'm worried about
i connect my laptop to my hdtv - and i use intel's gfx program to configure it - if i install the driver should this program come with it? - it's basically intel's version of ati's catalyst control centre.

Look at any release notes when going to the download page. Often that will show if there's an application included or just an updated driver set. Sometimes the application part is a separate item by itself.

Once you have 7 on you can substitute the Vista 64bit application if the 7 update lacks the application part. That would be one way around that while still seeing the newer drivers themselves go on.

At first I had to see the 64bit Vista application for the sound card here used along with the 7 beta drivers on the 64bit 7000 build. Now Creative has both for 7 available. It worked however. First see if the generic drivers will detect the hdtv by themselves however.

Otherwise you'll need the Intel app on to see if that will detect and allow the configuration to work. Also check for the force tv detection item to see if that is included in that as seen with the Catalyst.

finally got RC1 to recognize my Wireless connection and everything now runs smooth as silk and fast as lightning it's amazing how great Win7 is vs. XP & Vista.

When you go into the Device Manager you'll find the Yellow Exclamation mark over the Network Controller Device.
When it brings up the install screen tell it to use the driver from a specific location.
After you've visited Linksys' Website to download the driver package they provide just dump it on your hard drive in a place you know where it is.

Now the specific location will be the Driver folder where the Driver for the Wireless card is. Just select the Driver and click install, the computer IMMEDIATELY recognizes it and will bug you for the next 5 - 10 min. about setting up a home network lol

With the cable modem here I simply plug that into a nic card I added in without any need for drivers. That works like a champ!

It's getting connected once I add a Linksys or other router inbetween with or without drivers. That way I can connect a second system by hard wire or the wireless usb adapter. You can connect to the router but don't get past the modem.

Instead you'll click on the red "X" to use the network troubleshooter and won't get anywhere even after recycling power on both the modem and router. I'll get back on that one sooner or later.
