Windows 7 (DT icons don't work, no keyboard)

None of the desktop icons will activate, they just bring up the properties tabs window. After the login the keyboard doesn't work. Also if i try and move any of the desktop icons they just create another icon for the same program.

What does work is the task bar and also the start menu can be used to activate programs. The mouse works fine in all aspects. Programs seem to run fine if you start them in these ways.

If anyone knows anything then information would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest a system restore to get to a point before the troubles.

If that doesn't help, I suspect a repair install will.

nope

neither of these things worked and then i tried a clean install and that didn't work either.

What else might i try and what could possibly be wrong?

Sounds like it could be a keyboard issue. Try another keyboard in your machine.

if it was a keyboard issue then why wouldn't the desktop icons and the internet links work at all?

Where did you get your copy of Windows 7?
